Hi everyone, as I write this the Aussie dollar is sitting at 98.7 US cents and nearing parity the likes of which I can not remember seeing during my collecting time.

The question is, how is this affecting your buying on eBay?

Its funny that with the dollar so strong, none of the cards I want to buy are anywhere to be found! LOL

I'm sure as soon as they pop up, the dollar will crash!

Is there anything you are looking to buy now with the stronger dollar?

Cheers
Matt

I've had a bit of a paypal balance for the first time in a while, and with the US trading at around 74-75c to the NZ dollar I have been stupidly using my balance to buy my PC items! I'm pretty pleased, especially buying a few things for my mates, and yeah I'm a little less hesitant to go for a slightly better card than I would have been.

The Aussie dollar will not continue to rise for much longer. [I invest in the Stock Markets, inc US Markets]

As soon as it starts going downwards, I suggest you convert your monies into US Dollars.

The Feds are printing money like there is no tomorrow atm but in the coming weeks, their Stock Markets will start to go downwards leading to a major Stock Market Crash late this year or definitely sometime in 2011!!!!!!

Yeah I just saw that on the news...sooo good! Pity i've just spent $100 odd the last couple weeks, although the dollar was still pretty strong

0.9890/0.99 +/- certainly worth it, just purchased some card supplies from USA, looking to buy some hobby boxes - interesting speculation on the currency at the moment, some suggest it may even exceed parity (1.10 / 1)
In my mind anything + 0.90 is great, above that is a bonus, all adds up (lets face it, to reap significant rewards, you need to be spending some serious dollars)?? Enjoy if you can :)

I bought some new bball gear on Eastbay last night. Excellent rate of the dollar, plus a 20% off voucher is certainly helpful :)

I remember going to the States in 2001 and was only getting 0.47 in the dollar. Now that was an expensive trip!!!!!!!

Best news ever but I'm only an AFL collector so the only thing I'd need are supplies...

The only American thing I'm chasing is the UCS Lego Millennium Falcon, but it's now discontinued and expensive again...

It was in sale in Australia a few years ago but I was lying in hospital...:(

Parity + is a reality as Australia's interest rates are 4.5% and looking to increase while the US is still 0.00 - 0.25%. This leads to US funds selling the USD to buy AUD and invest in Australia. The sheer size and volume pushes the AUD high fast and fast south when they exit because Aust is such a tiny economy compared to the US. Once there is an inkling that the US is improving the AUD will dive again.. Historically the AUD average is around 0.78 US cents.

Brought the new United jersey at Rebel Sport with a discount voucher - well worth the wait!

The Aussies are overpowering the Americans..........

I might buy some NBA Jerseys off of the net if the dollar keeps up strong like it is.

I'm pretty keen to get a Wade, James and Bosh at some point during the next year and hang them all up in my room.

All I've got hanging at the moment is a LeBron All-Star Jersey, Zo and Shaq both Heat Jerseys. Need some of the fresh fellas in there though ;)

I'm not really into buying cardboard, because it just sits in the shelf and I think it's a bit of a waste of money. But if I get really tempted I might have a crack at a Wade or Zo card or two. Those are the only ones that could tempt me to spend cash on it.

Is there any way to add US$'s to your paypal account??

ie can I put $500 aus dollars into my paypal account and then have it converted into US dollars and leave it in there till I need it??

Yeah you can do that...... though you will lose a few dollars because of the conversion.
