Being a big spider-man cards collector, I was looking forward to the release of any Spider-man movies. To my surprise and disappointment, there seems to be no plans to release any card set for The Amazing Spider-man 2.

The last Spider-man release was in 2012 when Rittenhouse brought out a 19 card set, with 2 versions of Andrew Garfield autographs (220 produced) and one Costume Autograph card (110 produced). I was quite disappointed with such a small release last time round. Especially when it followed a full-sized base/insert/parallel/sketch release of Spider-man Archives in 2009.

While the future looks bright for the Spider-man franchise in the cinemas, I can only hope that Rittenhouse picks up its game when the series is rebooted. Recent box office figures indicate there is still a great deal of interest on Spider-man.

Big thing with movie sets these days is the movie people won't release the imagery early enough for the card companies to make the set in time to ride the movie's release. The card company want to release when the movie comes out, but the studio don't want the images to possibly get out ahead of the movie and spoil the plot line and by doing so harm the box office takings.

So we end up with all these cool (and some not so cool) movies with sets either coming out months, or even years after the movie has come and gone. Look at Pacific Rim, Enders game and the Hobbit all coming soon...

Would really have liked for there to be a set based on the "X-men - Days of future past" as it has an awesome and huge cast - imagine the auto's and prop cards that could be done from that - Jackman, Stewart, Lawrence, Dinklage, it goes on and on !

That's a good point, but The Amazing Spider-man film in 2012 did come with a small release, so I am surprised they didn't do another one just for continuity.

But the small release is most likely due to the reasons that you have given. They were just character cards, no scenes involved, so the plot line was never given away.

I am mainly disappointed because we are denied the opportunity to have autographs of the other actors and actresses.
