The news came through today that Terry Fearnley passed away, Terry was a lower grade coach of the Roosters before he made the move to Parramatta in the mid 70's and saw the Eels make Grand Finals in 1976 and 1977 being runners up both years, a cruel stroke of fate however prevented him from being Parramatta's first ever Premiership winning coach.
In 1985 he created history by being the Coach of the first NSW Blues side to win a State of Origin series, for which we are for ever grateful for, this side of the border!.
This is only a brief surmation of his coaching career as he had stints at the Magpies, Sharks & the Steelers as well as a successful but underrated season with the Kangaroos, Vale Terry!.
RIP Terry.
Very sad one of the greats from my youth.
When i was 10 playing in the parramatta school boys knock-out at parramatta park.we were late for our semi final Terry And john peard packed just about whole team into his EH Holden wagon and raced us to the other side of parramatta park
where we lost 8-6 to parramatta marist brothers but i will never forgot the frill I felt sitting in front seat between Eels coach and John peard.
