Suggestion for "Players Collected" section

Hi,

Even though I am a n00b - I have a suggestion (or please let me know if know if it's already here and I'm not looking in the right place).

So far people have contacted me and i'm taking photos like mad of all the individual players i have ....

It would be much easier if there was a section where you could list players A-Z, and then people can post in there for trades/selling as that way they know who collects what.

Also if there was a section in Member list where you can do a search for players?

I hope I'm not butting in -but it would be cool if that feature was there -

...does that all make sense - do you know what I'm on about?

that thread has a list of who most people collect, is that what you meant??

Also in the want list section people list players or sets they are chasing

Sort of - but not really ....

I mean if there was a section that was say:

Personal Collections:
Players A-G, H-L, M-S, T-Z etc etc

and then that way you can see all the members who collect a player - instead of each member who collects a player.

Its kinda different, but kinda the same .... I mean, say you have just pulled a insert auto of player X - but you dont want it .... what do you do??

If the that listing structure existed, then you could just go to that players page - and ask if anyone wants it. And then all the people who specifically want that player can keep an eye out for that area.

Maybe its too complicated...

We may look at adding something like that along the lines of how the member list works now. Then each player or ones we add can have names of members that collect him to be added in the profile box.

Yeah i thought of changing the who do you collect list into that format, but i becomes hard when you have more than one person collecting the same player.

What I do is go into the current list and then search the page for the player name

ok ... back on topic - finally my bunch of cards has arrived (random players/#D/Auto/jersey's) ... now how do I find out who collects which player?

Do I need to read each person's individual post on the want list???

i like this idea, the players collected listed by member name isnt all that user friendly

so you want like a Alphabetical listing of all the players collected on here, kinda like the nba site player profiles.
for example.
A

Allen, Ray
Allen, Tony

B

Bryant, Kobe

etc etc..

and like link to a new URL with a list of the players who are collecting tha players. Is that sorta what you want or wayoff?

I guess so .... dunno really, as I'm new to this site and am not sure what other people want .....

maybe u can setup a section, and people register on that page - but it needs to be limited (ie. no fancy signatures, or large pictures etc etc) .... something neat and clean, easily readable.

It would be nice to be able to send a message to that group (ie, if i get a new card of Player X - instead of contacting each personal individually - I can send a group message).

On another site i go on they just have a sticky thread with like

Allen, Ray - Person A, Person B, Person C (only autos), Person D
Wade, Dwyane - Person A etc...

sorta how we have ours but with the player listed rather than the member

hmmm .... I'm leaning towards not having "normal" sticky threads because (all of this is my opinion only):

1. Too much clutter, take this page for example - too much wording and images. It detracts the attention from the main purpose, a list of who collects who ....

2. A simple list would serve this purpose, and people register their interest - when someone clicks on a persons name, they can send them a message.

3. Ideally you can send a message to the group.

4. The page wont allow for images, and fancy pics/signatures ... just text.

5. The page only has a list of people interested, no posting by individuals or asking questions, putting up tags etc etc ....

Maybe we could trial it out??

If I'm understanding what you're asking for, sounds good.

Will be a lot of work for one of the admins to setup, but probably won't be too much to maintain, just add a collector to a player.

I've seen on another forum they have a section with new topics for each individual player. If anyone has anything good they can post it up in that players topic and whoever is interested can reply.
