Sat next to him while he iced his ankle..
He was commenting on the old cards with the side-burns in the photos..
I also gave him one of those Cariacture cards of himself, he loved it..
I have never come across such an approachable footballer considering his status..
I agree with how awesome of a guy Smith is. I met him for the first time last season when Melbourne came to Auckland. He made sure he signed everything that people had for him and took photos. The coaching staff were asking him to hurry up as the rest of the team were waiting in the team bus but he wasn't rushing. A legend on the field but you see the real personality off the field. Full Respect for Smith as a player and a person Top Bloke!!!
May as well turn this into a Cam Smith appreciation thread.
When the Storm junior feeder was here on the Central Coast they had the odd open training session and signing session. There was always those that had 100 things for them to sign, my son 7 or 8 at the time had no patience so kept jumping out off the line to kick his footy with his mate etc then joining at the end again behind people lining up for the 2nd or 3rd time, it was obvious he wasn't going to get his cards signed at this rate. A few of the Storm boys had had enough and got on the team bus. Cam got up walked to the end of the line to the boys who had been playing footy, gave them a signed team poster and started signing things from the back of the line, he had a chat and a pass of the footy and when my son asked him where's Izzy? Cam went and dragged him and Slater off the bus to come sign their cards. Like above the staff were giving him the hurry up but he wanted to make sure everyone who wanted it got a piece of him. Legend!
