Storing Older Scanlens cards?

Curious as to how people store these cards, penny sleeves / 9 pocket pages etc?

As you may have read I am trying to finish a couple of the Scanlens sets. I was going to move them into penny sleeves / pages and out of the boxes, but after trying a couple I'm finding that inserting them into penny sleeves is fraught with danger. The cardboard is old obviously not "crisp" for want of another word and the corners are very "slightly puffy" for want of a better description and very prone to having a bit damage done to them going into the penny sleeves, 1977 particularly.

Straight into pages, team bags (although numbering doesn't suit this) leave them in the box under the cupboard and don't look at them again?

Whats the consesus?

I'm leaning towards straight into the pages without sleeves, at least this way they can be seen, they have some protection and they dont damage corners going in..

I've got my scanlens sets in 9 pocket pages. in an album. No penny sleeves, for the reasons you have outlined.
Personally I think it works best that way, as you can look at them when you like without handling/risking damage, as well as making it easier to slot in cards that you are able to pick up when trying to complete sets. Plenty of empty slots for me to fill. lol

I could always add some to the DTs, there's plenty of 77 / 78 / 82 / 86 cards in my Scanlens list

I store most of my mint scanlens in penny sleeves in top loaders and then in ultra pro pages and album designed for top loaders only

I think that is the way for me as well.

Regarding the original question, to get older scanlens in penny sleeves without damaging them, I partially insert two common cards (from a recent release) and then slide the scanlens in between and partially into the sleeve, so all three are say a quarter of the way into the sleeve. Then I pull out the commons one by one and left with the partially inserted scanlens which you can then slide in no worries.

Ross, some people like to put them into penny sleeves then into 9 pockets, be carefull, make sure they are the same plastics, if not over time 2 different plastics can react with each other.
Personal opinion, straight into 9 pockets, then into sealed cupboard.

I agree. Forget the penny sleeves - not worth the risk.

I seriously doubt you will have issues with ultra pro premium sleeves and ultra pro pages, unless you store them somewhere damp like the swimming pool
