I thought a lot of collectors in the NRL section would be interested to see Steve Wangs response to collectors of Select products
well worth a read... make your own mind up if you would prefer collecting ESP now or go back to Select but at least ESP seem to listen (whether they agree or not they listen).
ESP arent perfect but it seems Select and JHL/Cardzone and all there Bullshit is a basket case filled with grenades and the collectors are the ones suffering
ESP are great, they show up to all the show's and give out free product not only to the customers that attend the show, but also to sellers to give out and attract more collectors..
Select have never been to a show to my knowledge, they have some great people at Select like Di etc, but, they seem more $$$ motivated....

It's been interesting reading over the last few days.
I was pretty critical of Select when they held the NRL license, and I think ESP have had a pretty tough initiation trying to hit the ground running, but are doing an excellent job. There's small things like card design I'd like to see changed, but overall they are miles ahead of Select.

ESP are great......HA, lets see what we have seen to date, no information or wrong / misleading information, broken promises to dealers, attempted price setting as we know for a fact they wanted their cards sold at a minimum price on OCT. That is the stuff that is known.
Stuff I have heard, cases of Elite with absolutely nothing in them but base cards, cases opened after printing to check the ratio's then those cards re-packaged for sale.
So, ESP have given us a product that has not held its value because lets face it which other card company do you know of that sells their product along the lines of buy one case and get one free or you must buy this 2012 limited edition case to get one set of 2013 limited edition.
It might be a different story if you are a dealer, or bust boxes to make a profit (although I can't complain on that front, I cleaned up on Elite) but for me as a team collector, I guess I have different priorities.
I've loved the increase in sig cards from ESP - my club has now had five in the last two years, with another couple coming up in this year's Elite, I assume. Compare that to two Knights sig cards in the last three years of Select - and those two players probably played around ten games of first grade between them.
I have to be honest that I don't really care if the sig cards don't cost what they used to or lose value in the short term - because I will be holding onto those cards forever, so it's irrelevant to me. And $150 for a sig card /100 is I actually think a much fairer price than $650.
