Sonics on the way back?

yeah the hornets arent the same, but thats because theyre not in charlotte anymore. this will be a sonics team based in seattle again...?

I think he means that the Thunder took all the records, banners, the history of the Sonics with them when they moved didn't they? Not that it really matters I guess, would still love to see the Sonics get another go round

Agreed, will enjoy seeing the green and yellow go round!

yeah, thats fair enough. didnt really think of that. was more from the point of view of the peeps of seattle. they wont mind the difference i dont think. plus i think the records are still under the name of 'seattle supersonics' arent they? eg. no-one thinks of the 20-64 season as the OC thunder's 'record' season? bit of a shame for the thunder fans tho. they were starting to make a real name for themselves...

I was a Sonics fan as a kid, I'm still struggling to adopt Thunder as the team I'm supposed to go for. I do remember reading an article last year about the government in Seattle giving the green light for a stadium to be built, to try and create a home for a Sonics franchise. I'll try look for it.

Aah, http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8509900/seattle-arena-deal-gets-final-approval

But that's assuming the Kings will indeed be shifting geographically.

Pelicans and Sonics, that's be cool, then no more Bobcats and Hornets being back in Charlotte maybe.

I personally think the Thunder have totally distanced themselves from the Seattle Sonics now. I mean they're in a different city and have a different name and a totally different brand of ball with only a couple of holdovers that played a year or two with the Sonics.

It would be great to have the Seattle Sonics back, has a great ring to it and they produce some amazing patches with those awesome colours.

But it would be pretty sad to see the end of the Kings.

seattle have some of the greatest fans, if the city had agreed to build a new stadium the sonics would of never seized the opurtunity to go to OKC

im not totally convinced that the team will be called the sonics, i think we may just see the seatle kings, or a new name

The rebirth of the sonics will be great if it happens. However sad to see a team sale to achieve this.

Would have been nice if a new team was added instead.

If they plan to rebrand I suggest:
