Well I just bought a 360 under the guise of it being a xmas present for my "kids" lol.
But I am just getting to grips with hooking it up to my pc and Im wondering if anyone else has used the program ORB.
Just wondering if its worth getting and if its a reliable and safe program to have on my computer in the way of trojans and viruses and things.
So im hoping someone else has used it and can tell me a bit about it.
Yeah that was what I was trying to figure out too. I downloaded orb and it plays any video I want and I can get directly to all my music without a hassle it just seems a little to easy hence my worry about it being a bit dodgy. It seems all good I just wanted to know if anyone else had tried it. It also lets me watch my you tube videos on my tv which is sweet as well.
This document should help you out. Xbox 360: Firewall port settings for Windows Media Connect
all you gotta do is open ports on your router. ive got mine hooked up to Media Centre as well as Windows Media Player. you also have to configure sharing within media player and select. open WMP and select TOOLS\then library tab\ then click config sharing\then share my media\ the rest is pretty easy to work out ( well for an IT it is )
Yeah I have configured my WM 11 player and all thats sweet now thanks but now Im having trouble with the buffering on some movies. It plays the first ten minutes of a movie (through orb) and then goes to buffer again and then just stops playing it claiming unsupported format for some reason. Any ideas on what sort of codecs it needs and what is the best format for streaming?
Hey taz i read somewhere on the net that those after market fans were bad news because they blow hot air into the system or something like that causing it to overheat. They suggested if anything just a regular fan and nothing attached to the xbox at all. If you google it and ask for a review it should come up

have you downloaded the last Fall update from Xbox live which has the Divx codecs in it?? also are you streaming over Wireless or CAT 5 cable?? i use media centre to steam Divx files. also another good thing you can do with the lastest dashboard update is play divx files from a DVD or USB memstick. if your having steaming problems just buy a 2 gig usb key about $30 and then copy movies there and they'll play no problems
Just an update. After some research I found another free program called tversity which encodes and streams on the fly which is sweet It seems to be better than orb so far.
