Has anyone ever wondered, all these 1/1s that we have, Logomen, Letter Patches, etc, etc, all that we have, did you ever think, when busting cards 10 or so years ago (don't think too hard Jim, you were still in diapers mate ), but did you ever imagine having these said cards...
I think its not just about the 1/1's and fancy autos (altho we so own in that department on this forum)... we have very dedicated collectors here!!
i am 99% sure that the two biggest rider card collectors are in aus (I'm only number 2 - wallace's buddy would have the better collection)... i think that is awesome as well.
Just the other day I was thinking how amazing it is that scotty's awesome harris collection is in tasmania!!
LOL, get Tassie on the map! ha ha ha. You orta pop down one day to see it in person!
There's plenty of dedicated collectors out there, and I'm sure that money is the end result of most of the collections we see.
But it's not always about spending the most to get the most.
We (Aussie) definately have a lot of collections that millions would be happy to have.
I also think that we only get to see a very small % of collections/cards out there, and the rest of the %'s are tucked away where no one can see them, and leaves us only with an imagination of what's not in PCs, and what's left in boxes to be busted!
Australia was to disappear tomorrow, surely it would throw the card world in turmoil! Riders would skyrocket in price! Imagine that?
I think Australia has some of the biggest colletors in the world. We have alot of player/set collectors who are knwon worldwide for their amazing collections.
Its true though ten years ago I never imagined half the cards in my collection. I was amazed at the first 97/98 UD Game Jersey cards, I couldn't believe they put bits of players jerseys on cards! Now we take it for granted. A card numbered out of 100 used to be SUPER RARE now they sell for a couple of bucks. Its crazy.
We at Ozcards are putting Australia on the map to earn the respect for our amazing collections
When you think about it, quite a large amount of rare cards reside here, if (God forbid) Australia was to disappear tomorrow, surely it would throw the card world in turmoil! Riders would skyrocket in price! Imagine that?
I think we've all done well in coping with the extremes of getting cards to Australia and evolved into making it alot easier for everyone now. On a side note, does it also make you wonder with the amount of new product coming out every year, when the a$$ will drop out of (the new releases anyway) cards? Or will it remain stable with the population growth and new interest?
Having seen KG collections from round the world we have 2 of the top 10 best here in OZ/NZ and from my experience the biggest Twolves collection I've seen (AJ's).
There's absolutely no doubt that we stack up pretty well round the world..... especially per head of population
Personally I don't think it'll remaion stable - lets face it 1/1 plates are starting to drop in price big time...so what's next??
