Signature / avatar not allowed?

Sorry for the newbie question. I hit the FAQ and it described where to add signatures etc but I just get a message saying that I'm not allowed to have a signature. Since most users do, I am assuming this is not a Board rule. How do I get permission?

Users must have a minimum of 10 posts before they can use avatars, signatures. This will be updated in the board rules in the coming days.

Thanks, it seems messages count also as the settings suddenly became available.

hah, there's an answer here. i also looked in every possible place, and can't find any. well, few more posts and i'll be able to make a signature or avatar

Any idea why my sig (which is fairly small I thought) is cut off down the bottom. Is it just cos it's Perk??
