Another year has passed, another mailday to showcase a selection of cards that I added to my Shaq collection over the past 5-6 months. My collection now stands at 2845 but it has slowed down considerably over the past 6 months. It will slow down further since he has retired and will be a lot less new releases. I will now have to compete with the numerous Shaq fanatics out there for his older releases...
My Shaq collection has grown to a degree where I have most of the base/inserts/GUs, so what I have been chasing lately are the less popular but rarer oddball cards. I will kick off this mailday with a couple of magnets:
95 Pro Magnets 93 - A recent pick up on ebay, thought it was a never before seen issue, but turned out to be a card in my wantlist when I saw its number.
94 Pro Magnets - looks exactly like another Pro Magnet except the background is different, I have never seen this one before until I bought it.
93-94 Upper Deck 1992 1993 NBA Top Draft Picks - Back in the 90s, UD released these jumbo cards quite regularly, normally featuring 6 players, rookies or All-Stars.
95-96 Stadium Club Members Only 119 - One of the few sets that I am still after from the 90s, the Members Only sets are very hard to come by, what they have on eBay are way overpriced. Got this on for $4 on CheckOutMyCards.
94 Jam Session Ticket Stub - a rare card that was part of the ticket to the All Star Weekend in 94.
03-04 Fleer Mystique Rare Finds Jersey Patch - the only Shaq patch that I have added over the past 5 months, it is one of the many permutations of this particular insert set.
00-01 Fleer Showcase Avant Card - a canvas card with multiple images of Shaq printed on it.
08-09 Topps Signature Autograph - one of the most boring , un-interesting looking Shaq auto you will ever see. The card is plain, no background really, minimal design, sticker auto, what more can you not want!! but it was at a good price and I got it anyway.
05-06 Topps Pristine Jersey Autograph - a generally more exciting looking Shaq auto/jersey... it has some design, but my preference has always been his full signature like in his earlier autos
Thanks for looking!! keep an eye out for my other Maildays in the coming days...
The autos on those stickers definitely look like he couldn't be bothered, but that being the case, I'd still like to have an auto of his of any kind. Nice pick ups!
I wish I had enough PC cards to start targetting oddballs! Nice autos despite the sticker and design - I actually quite like the Pristine offerings. ...and get those Pro Mags up on the fridge - you know you want to!
2845 cards ...man that is one awesome collection....maybe I need to count mine just to know how I measure against your collections. I'd be happy to even reach 1000.
I don't know why but it feels like its getting harder to find some nice Shaq cards this past few months.
Thanks for sharing, good to see some nice Shaq cards
