For those of you on Facebook, you may have already read about this.

Very sad to hear that the management of some teams just want to milk what they can from their fans :(

I understand that they are running a business but surely this is too far.

Last year I looked into stocking some merchandise from a NBL team .... very glad I didn't follow through with it...

Copied this comment from a local store's Facebook page. It clearly shows how much they were going to sell the Jersey's for !

kickz101 vs Wildcats.PNG

There are reports that the same jerseys are now being sold for up to $150 each ...

Reports that they were stinging people at home games for $130 each

What a joke !!!

A shame that the team and coaching staff have been let down by such blatant greed

The Wildcats have been terrible with merchandise for years!

They have ALWAYS charged more than the other teams for jerseys and have not had much of a range of merchandise since the last couple of years at PEC.

Ridiculous! And just when the NBL needed good publicity trying to expand the game in AUS...
You are not wrong Matt. I love to support local sports but there is no way that their brand name is worth more than an NBA team and the worldwide following of the NBA.

Just money hungry rather than looking after people with small budgets who would love to wear a jersey in support of the team....

This year has shown a slow decline compared to last year.
Last year highlights
Special Free drinks and nibbles at Perth Arena - this year nothing
Discount book for members - this year nothing
Discounts on some merchandise for members - this year nothing unless they are clearing old items
Supporter goodies regularly handed out like clappers/horns etc - this year hardly anything at all - horns have been banned due to being too noisy apparently ... they obviously are not sitting in the stands to hear how loud the PA announcements and sales pitches are
Player calls to members on their birthdays - this year nothing

the only thing that seems to have changed this year is,
Prices went up for memberships
Muzz buzz dancers group has doubled in size... way more than is really necessary
due to other commitments the usual game compare was replaced by someone who seems to really enjoy getting the crowd revved up
Regular spam mail trying to sell sponsorship related items. Please join HIF blah blah blah

Such a shame the way things have gone

I've never been able to get into the NBL. I went to a couple of Bullets games when I was younger and the competition was horrible, as was the atmosphere so I can understand how they folded. I can't imagine teams charging that sort of money for the jerseys.

Perth almost get as good crowds as some NBA teams so they are doing ONE thing right at least lol. just would be good to get more NBL jerseys around than NBA. One day! maybe not...

Probably 80% of people that wear NBA jerseys around don't even watch games. Its become part of the hipster fashion must have.

I'd be fine with pay $100 for a Kings jersey if they weren't always sold out on the website

Would you pay $130/$150 for one though ?

If it helped the club I'd seriously think about it. Just wondering where you heard these reports of that price? I know the Kings ones weren't selling for that high.
The Wildcats regular season jerseys are $90. The Heritage ones are $130/$150.

If jersey sales actually helped the NBL become a real league with more than 6 teams then I would buy one too. There are plenty of organizations that are not short of money and don't give a hoot about local business's... I guess it is how the world is sometimes :(

have to say one of the best things I saw was the Barcelona FC sales in Barcelona - now I'm not 100% on the details , but it was essentially -

They licensed anyone and everyone to make the supporters gear- this meant that it was all incredibly cheap, lots of knock offs and really cheap stuff, lots looked counterfeit but was actually licensed. Apparently this was done deliberately so that everyone in the city supported the football team, no matter how poor they were.
Tickets for the game itself was where they made more money (easy when there is such a following and millions in the city) and they did also sell official gear which was the same as the players, which was much more expensive.

But to give you an idea of prices (compare this to the nrl/afl)
scarf at the game -$10
cap - $10-15
kids playing kit (top and shorts) - $40
adult jersey - $20-30

That sounds like a great idea

Think some teams have become GREED based, We have been excited to how Adelaide 36ers new management have turned Sixers around. Taken a more active approach with fans and got them back to the games.

Happy Hour ticket sales usually half price tickets and on sale for one hour twice a day a few days before a game.
Biggest crowds in Adelaide Arena for several years even before our decline, so very encouraging but agree that NBL Merchandise is average at the least.
