This has probably been asked a million times, so i apologise in advance!

Ive read the packaging rules and would like an explanation on:
a) Each card to be in a penny sleeve, always.
b) Cards are to be placed in appropriately thick top loaders, secured by tape at the top.
c) Cards to be sent in a bubble mailer.

What is a penny sleeve? And what exactly is a 'top loader'?

If/when i make a trade i want to make sure i do it right the first time!

Any advice/info appreciated!

Thanks! That sheds some light! So it has to be placed into a Penny Sleeve and then into a Top loader. Then into a bubble wrap type envelope?!

Why are white envelopes the enemy?

Because the go in a sorting machine, which can damage them. The bubble ones don't.

I still don't get this penny/toploader thing.

The penny sleeve mainly protects the surface of the card from scratching/finger prints/finger oils etc, the toploader protects the corners. The aim is to preserve the cards condition as chipping, scratching, dinged corners, smudged autographs etc ruin the value of the card.

Extremely kind of you!!! Started collecting AFL, Holden related cards, Xmen....
PM me what xmen cards you need and we can work something out

Ok, but what's wrong with the cardboard around the card, like they do on ebay?

The card can still slide around in Cardboard and it can still scratch the surface or worse yet stick to the card or transfer ink to it. With a Penny sleeve and top loader you dont have to worry or breach site rules

Cardboard bends quite easily, not like plastic.

And just because that is done on EBay makes it OK here. There are no rules on EBay for shipping unlike here.

Cards I have been sent from EBay shipped in cardboard sometimes get damaged. I have had more cards damaged with cardboard packaging than toploader.

About 1:20-30 for cardboard compared with 1:5000 for Toploaders.

Penny sleeves are dirt cheap at around $3 for 100.

Bubble envelopes can also be quite cheap, especially if bought in bulk from Office Works or Aus Post or even some newsagents.

Toploaders can work out to be expensive on eBay due to postage costs, but if you can get them in person somewhere, or even buy in bulk, they are also quite cheap.

All of these are the required tools of a good trader

Ive just noted that you are in Perth, but where in Melbourne (CBD) or Bendigo can i purchase the penny sleeves and top loaders?

Im sure if you ask someone on here can mail you some Penny sleeves.
I have 2 shops here that sell them. Would be more than happy to send you some if you pay all costs.
You will find the higher the card value the better the packaging requirements get.
For instance you pay 200 bucks on a Jersey Auto card, you will 9 times out of 10 get it in a hard screw down or magnetic case.
I for one don't like using top loaders as they can still bend. Most members here will accompany the top loaders with 2 bits of cardboard to ensure the package isn't going to bend at all.

Just want to clarify.... should ever single card be sent within its own penny sleeve? Regardless of the cards value?

Quote from the site rules:
In the event of sending a large number of cards, where individually placing each card in a top loader is not practical, the cards should be well protected between cardboard/top loaders and posted in a box or bubble mailer.
