Sending International - Please Help

Hey guys, it's been ages since I sent, and I need to do it again.

Here's what I need....

Option A - Registered Mail + Insurance (up to $50)

Option B - Registered Mail + Insurance (up to $100 - maybe $200)

What are my options?

I just went to the PO, and was only there a sec, but they have a $14.95 bubbler mailer which has no insurance, or registration.

I just checked austpost.com.au and they have some options, but doesnt mention insurances.

90503 C5 Envelope $11.50 each (Express Post Envelope).

I thought I might use the Bubble Mailer, but what would it cost for Insurance (if Registered Mail not an option).

Please don't give me any "I've never used it, and rah rah rah".

Just post helpful responses guys.

I usually pack it up as I would any other mail (ie bubble wrap etc) and send it insured which is $9 for the first $100, $3 for every $100 thereafter on top of your normal postage charge. This is also fine for Paypal as proof of postage as you retain a carbon copy

for just 1 card in a bubble mailer mine is usually about $7-$8 for registered overseas mail, but it will be more for you scotty as you are sending it from tassie, which will probably be a bit more in postage charges.

i am pretty sure it is a max of about $3 for an extra $100 insurance

Thanks guys, what sorta bubble mailers do you use?

I guess I'm just trying to cover my arse, since I'm accepting PayPal as Payment.

If a standard aussie post bubble mailer is fine, I'll use that.

Keep in mind you can't send letter(bubble mailer) via registered to "USA"

you had to do it via parcel which cost $7.50+$8 for Insurance(that's what I use for high end item, I charge buyer $16.50 for postage)

oooh, tell me more.

$16.50AU? That's fine with me, it'll cover all the costs, and no "fees" for handling, petrol, time, rah rah rah.

What do you use?

I'm going to be sending Danni to the PO with the card, and instructions, so what ever you tell me I'll be passing on to Danni.

What else can I tell you?, I am not big fan of handling fee,petrol..ect, I think $16.50 for a $100-200 card is reasonable, coz they paid via paypal, without insured and registered, just
too difficult for both buyer and seller.

So is it a set fee/envelope or just the rate that it ends up being after you've got the envelope, weight, and charges (with insurance & registration - parcel).

Hey guys, thought this was worth sharing.

Went to the PO today to post a card off to the US, I wanted to have $50 insurance on it.

I had to send it as a parcel (can register a letter, but can't have insurance on it).

It cost me $17.25.

That was:
$0.90c for bubble mailer
$8.50 parcel post to USA
$7.85 Insurance

I had quoted $13.50US postage, which left me about $0.80c out of pocket. (should have been $14).

Just thought I'd share that.

I'm not sure if I wanted to send something insured for $100 or $200.

I'll find out next time we're around at the shops.

Yeah it's crap, I think that price is insured up to 100.

It probably was insured up to 100, but the value we put was $50.

I'll ask more info next time.

I got told a price around 45 last time what does this inlcude I have no idea?
