Whats your thoughts on collecting & selling Autographed cards for profit???
I have an extensive nrl card collection, though much smaller than most, within I hold about 350 personally signed cards that I collected purely for myself. I will never sell these cards as I have collected them for my nrl passion. Strolling though ebay I see so many signed cards up for sale simply to make a dollar. Is it just me, I find it to be wrong. How Bout You???
If someone is happy to buy it.. Then I don't see a problem with it.. On the odd occasion I find a card that I need.. Happy to pay $5 for it!......
People who just do it for profit annoy me a little... Depends on whether you are doing it for cash or the sake of trading.. I managed a heap of sigs for other teams to trade for cowboys ones..
Buying them n trading for your pc is fine. Just cant stand the pigs looking to make profits, half of em barely follow the game, know the players or care at all. But, thats just me, each to thier own i guess lol
Hm, that's a tricky questions. I've been an in-person autograph collector for 20 years (no cards, but 8x10"/8x12" photos and 12" record sleeves) and while I hate the HUGE amount of dealers and their suppliers these days because they screw our hobby, I have to admit that I also sell autographs from time to time to finance my travels to international film festivals such as in Berlin, Cannes or Deauville. So while others might only have one 8x10" signed, I usually have them sign two 8x10" photos in case I need to sell one some day.
I'm not making any profit by this and it doesn't even cover my travel/hotel expenses, but selling from time to time makes me lower the expenses I have as a private collector because collecting IP can be really expensive.
