Hi there,

You can list on ebay.com.au in Aussie dollars and have it seen by international audience through the selling options, but it doesn't mean your item will automatically come up for them unless they are searching internationally.

Seeing as a considerable portion of the market is US based (and IMO the US have some trust issues with buying internationally) it makes sense to list on ebay.com
That way they will see it automatically in their searches hence getting you a bigger audience.

However, it doesn't mean that they will bid as when they see your location, it will still possibly put them off buying.
Hence why consignment sellers are popular, as they are reliable. you get the sale, they will ship the item.

If you have weak buying and especially selling stats in ebay, then the less likely the international market will jump on your items.

Good luck with it!!
