Security at the Cricket- Any Problems?

The WACA are that strict on what you can bring in that is in unbelievable.

For example water bottles HAVE to be SEALED to be able to get into the ground!! Yes maybe people could smuggle booze in these water bottles but most are clear aren't they! I guess just trying to slug us $4.50 for a 600ml bottle of water!

I personally have had a few problems at the WACA with security including:

-Last week at the WACA (Big bash game) i took a Backyard bucket to wear and security told me that it is a safety risk and that i might not get into the ground. He called the manager and after 5 minutes of discussion i got it in It's just a piece of cardboard for god sake!

- At the Aus v WI's test last year we took in a small drink flask (the blue and white one no more that 20cm tall), got it through security (they saw it) and at around 1pm a bunch of security guys came down and asked us how we smuggled it in. We tried to explain to them that we got it through their own security but they said we smuggled it in and confiscated off us for the whole day..

- The next day we brought an even smaller one in (the day before they said it was fine to take a smaller one) and they stopped us at the gate and thought we had alcohol in it (at the time we were 14 yo kids!!), had a 10 minute convo with the manager and then smelt it.. just water!!

- The Year before that my mate took some decent Kookaburra balls (yes it is not allowed but people still do) and they said we could put them in the 'cloaking' office and get them back at the end of the day. So after the days play we rock up to find them stolen How did this happen with actual security guards 'guarding' the office?

- In 05' another mate took an full-size autograph bat (not the small ones but the full-size ones) which had a few auto's on it.. Again everybody else got theirs in somehow but not us, and again the cloaking office was used to store it. So again we rock up and it's not there.. Again we ask questions!

- Last Year my brother and he's friend were getting bored (he was 9 at the time) from watching the cricket so they started throwing a rolled- up sock backwards and forth the length of no more than a metre for about 5 minutes. Shortly after they started a security guard came over and asked him where he put the ball.. My mum turned around and realised that he was talking to my 9 y.o brother and said went off at him Anyway apparently one of the guards on the seats who sit on the boundaries saw them playing with a 'ball' when it was only a sock.

Have you guys had any problems?

Yeah I have only been to two cricket grounds. The WACCA and the MCG. The WACCA is much stricter and they always make u leave things behind in some area and ppl steal ur stuff. My dad and I once went to a ODI at the WACCA and it was meant to rain so my Dad brought an umbrella. It wasn't allowed in. Got taken but apparently some guy couldn't remember if he's umbrella was navy or black so my Dad got the same umbrella, same brand and size just in another colour. LOL. It was very lucky.

I haven't had that much trouble with drinks going in. I take two sports bottles: One with cordial and one with water and they just sniff it and then let me in.

I was atthe WACA Test Match last year and the people sitting next to me had a seasled bottle of OJ that had been injected with vodka!

Great idea as long as it's drunk in moderation

Went to the SCG this year and they were pretty good, even allowed a couple of cans in which is not normally allowed!

Security and cops at the mcg are a joke!

At the boxing day test this year a guy got kicked out for banging on the fence after a four! WTF! They tackle people for hitting around beach balls!

At the boxing day test last year a guy near us got kicked out for yelling "you're f@cking sh!t!" after a pakistani guy misfielded the ball!

When bay 13 starts hitting around a beach ball literally 30 cops & 30 security crowd around to take the beach ball!

Adelaide is they way to go, the hill is hetic. All ways fights and ****. Not much security more police.

Blame insurance companies. Everything is seen as a liability. So they have no choice but be anally protective.

Just look at the QLD floods, insurance companies want to sit down and define what a flood is.

I thought it would be an easy definition. ANY F***ING water that goes inside your property and causes damage.

haha yeah gotta love the beach balls!

At the WA v Vics Big Bash game last week there was a group near us that were stirring up the security guards with vuvuzelas and beach balls but the guards had no idea where they were and were looking for them for the whole game Also love it how pathetic the security are..

1. It takes 5+ guys to take down one streaker.
2. They get upset when the crowd start singing 'you are a ****er' when they take the beach balls
3. How they refuse to pick up items that you accidently dropped, like a baby last year that was in his dads arms sitting on the fence before the game and his dummy fell out and the security guard just ignored him.. I know they are trying to do their job but common courtesy would be good.

At the boxing day test some guy was sitting with his kid and the kid threw his hat over the fence and security came and gave it back and the kid get doing it and security would give it back every time!
