MavsMan© - :-D ha ha ha Well, this is about as far as I will go in collecting models etc. I'll leave the x-rated stuff to the other collectors out there :-D Ha ha ha I know the Japanese Idol cards have game used cards which ACTUALLY show you where the peice of fabric came from. No guessing which ones sell the most.....

bas - :-D Ha ha ha ha The last scratch and sniff card I got was the Simpsons back in 95. And they smelt terrible.

what the hell are these stupid cards
my girlfriend is dying to know why somebody would collect these

ease up mate, i think theyre a bit stupid too, but each to their own. im sure many would consider collecting sports cards as frickin lame as well.

Thats a bit harsh I think proto
Lets not flame the collecting habits of fellow members here.

Prototype - Well theres a reaction you don't get everyday.

What are these stupid cards? Well, they are produced by Benchwarmers which started way back in 1992. This particluar series I am after now is the Signature series.

Why would someone collect these?

Well, I can't comment on everyone in the world, but for me personally. I am a set/theme collector. I love chasing sets that look great together. I saw a someone in the US get a few cards signed by some of these ladies at a convention and how he was looking for some cards to finish his set. Anyway, they looked quite nice. I saw a few boxes cracked open and they looked quite nice in design. So, I opted for a few boxes. Next thing you know, I started getting good hits on the cards and they looked neat in person, so decided to try and go for the auto parrallel set of these cards.
So the quick an easy answer is I thought they looked nice as a set and wanted to give it ago at completing it. Bust a few boxes, then pick up what I need for the set.

JZA - That's very true mate. We all have our differences and everyone collects different things, diiferent sets, different players etc. etc What someone will consider lame, others would treasure. But that's like anything in the world. Someones junk is someone elses treasure.

lockymac and Bas - Thanks for your comments guys. It's alright.

yeah sorry guys, i didn't mean to cause a fuss.
i realise people have different tastes etc.
i merely clicked on the link only to have my gf pose the question to me, and i honestly couldn't answer as to why. i mean i could understand, say playboy cards, to a degree (what with its social significance).

i think the main points of confusion were not understanding the desirability of autographs of what appear to be unknown individuals, and also that she thought this was a solely basketball card trading forum (and i quote "those don't look like basketball players", in reference to the benchwarmers cards).
