NY Knicks Owner James Dolan has Fired GM/Head Coach Isiah Thomas after many years of Mis-management. Thomas will be replaced Ryan Mattingly, who is the first Australian NBA Live 07 Head coach (on my xbox).
During the Press Conference Dolan said that he was "very excited with the chances of the New, New York Knicks, We wish Isiah well and despite Isiah's efforts this franchise just needs a new face and fresh outlook."
Ryan Mattingly was very excited to be the GM/coach of this once great franchise " The Knicks have so much history and has had so many great players over the years, I hope I can bring some respectability back to the club. I am sure the players are with me but there will be changes to the roster, rotaion and staff at the knicks, I just hope the fans will see the results sooner rather than later."
The Day was capped off for the Knicks when they recieved the 7th and 37th pick in the revised draft after all clubs were found to be rourting the salary cap. The Knicks then proceed to select SF Rudy Gay and C Saer Sene.
The Knicks rolled on last night with a 110 -106 Loss at Memphis. Using a starting Line up of Curry, Frye, Richardson, Francis, Marbury, the Knicks were simply out gunned by a superior unit. Eddie Curry was the standout for the Knicks posting 20pts and 10rebs, Marbury was also good with 12 asts but only 6pts on 2/12 shooting.
The Grizz were lead by Pau Gasol who shot above .800 and finshed with 29pts and 9 rebs and thourghly dominated Frye causing him to foul out early in the fourth quarter. Stro Swift and Damon Stoudimire were also good getting 20 and 23 pts repectively.
Coach Mattingly was disappointed yet please with the effort the Knicks showed, "Our guys played with real heart to come back from the 3/4 time 9pt deficiet to take the lead with 3 remaining but that effort fatigued our starters badly and were not able to keep up with the Grizz's Starters, I mean it's like they don't get fatigued at all "
The Knicks season is in early trouble as they crumbled in the last minute to crash to the Atlanta Hawks 89-88. The game was up for grabs with 45 seconds remaining with the scores tied 86-86. The knicks bought the ball up the court and sunk thier final points for the game on 2 FT's by Q-Rich. On the next play Stephon Marbury (7pts, 8asts, 5 stls) stole the inbounds pass and took a terrible shot to gift the ball back to Atlanta with 20 secs on the clock. Atlanta calmly bought the ball back up the court and with 3 seconds left in the game Marvin Williams(20pts, 9 rebs) hit an open 3 on an assist from Joe Johnson. The Knicks took a time out and inbounded to Marbury but his 2 pointer at the buzzer from just inside the arc rimmed out, Game Over. Other standouts for the Knicks were Curry ( 13pts, 17 rebs ) and Frye ( 18pts, 10 rebs ). Josh Smith was good for the Hawks putting up 19pts and 10rebs.
Coach Mattingly was not happy and threw his clipboard to the ground in disbelief that Willaims was left that open "In games that close, no-one should be left un-guarded, but it is a young front court and hopefully this teaches them a lesson."
Had the shot sunk Mattingly may have been have been T'ed up for his expletive laiden throwing of the clipboard. There has been no decision on whether he will be fined by the league.
The Indiana Pacers have continued Coach Mattingly's First Season handing him and the Knicks thier worst loss for the season 105 - 91 and extending the winless streak to 3. Saranus Jasikevicius was the main destroyer taking a liking to MSG sinking 31pts, grabbing 9 rebs and 6 stls. "WTF happened tonight, I was in disbeleif as he rained those 7 3 pointers on us, who knew he could play so well" was Coach Mattingly's reaction after the game. There will be changes, mark my words, deals are in the works." Marbury (13 pts and 8 assists) was the only half decent player for the knicks who shot a woeful 28% from the floor but a suprising 100% from the stripe.
It could be a painful string of games for the Knicks who face the Spurs twice, Nuggets, Rockets and Cavs in the next week.
On a better note the NBA has decided not to fine Ryan Mattingly for last nights outburst as "Coaching the Knicks would send anbody over the edge."
The New York Knicks continued on thier way towards the Draft Lottery with a 102-89 Loss at San Antonio. The Spurs were dominate for most of the match with Duncan ( 14pts, 12rebs ) and Horry ( 24pts, 8 rebs ) leading the way. Curry ( 23pts, 12 rebs), Q-Rich (26 pts, 15 rebs) and Marbury (18pts, 7 asts) were the best for the Knicks all other Knicks scored in single digits. Coach Mattingly was not happy with some of his veterans " Shot selection, intensity and common sense, these 3 thing J. Rose and Steve Francis should have in thier games as veteran leaders of this team but instead they throw-up bricks, give away silly fouls and show no hussel, they better get off thier ass if they want to remain Knicks." The players will have thier chance to lift there games when they travel to Denver to face the Nuggets tomorrow Evening.
The New York Knicks announced today that they had completed 2 trades to bring 2 new players to the club.
The Knicks recieve Grant Hill from the Magic in return for Steve Francis.
Coach Mattingly on Hill - "He will fit in well here I believe as a SG, He is a hard worker with heaps of talent and will really give us a lift in every department across the board. Hopefully when his contract expires at the end of the year we can sort out a new deal to keep him a Knick for a while."
The Knicks recieve Alan Anderson from the Bobcats in return for Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor.
Coach Mattingly on Anderson - "People are going to say he was bought in only for Cap relief, to relieve ourselves of about 15 mil in Salary but I believe he can be a solid contributer at the SG position, he will keep the other guys working hard and fighting for there positions in the rotation."
mate you have extreme patience sticking with your settings after that many losses... I'd be so frustrated... have to admire that touch loss to the Hawks mate!
The New York Knicks grabbed thier first win of the season last night with a hard-fought 117-111 OT win against the Denver Nuggets. The score was deadlocked at 99 all at the final siren with S. Marbury missing a halfcourt heave with 2 seconds left. New Knick Grant Hill shone for his new team bringing back memories of the All-round game from his Duke/Piston Day. Hill had 40pts (15 in overtime), 8 rebs, 4 asts and 4 stls in what proved to be master trade by GM Mattingly. Carmelo got in early foul trouble (5 in first half) but the nuggets played good ball lead by Marcus Camby who had 24 pts, 21 rebs(8 off) and 8 blks and was supported well by Boykins with 23 pts.
"I am relieved, it is a huge weight off my shoulders and I can only hope that this strong play continues and that some of the others guys on the team take a leaf out of Grant's book" Coach Mattingly said after his first win in the NBA.
