I want to spice up this debate and apologise to Matt if he feels I'm hijacking this thread. There appears to be an overwhelming majority (including myself) who object to cutting up a piece of league history and see it as desecration of our game. However, I think Matt should run a concurrent thread headlining "Would you buy a historic game worn jersey card for your PC?". I anticipate that there would be an overwhelming majority in favour of adding a card of this calibre to one's PC. There wouldn't be many who would refain on principle. What Parra supporter wouldn't want a piece of Hindy's 300th game, Ben Elias' origin blood or part of the jersey of a Churchill medalist.
We all agree that from a business persepctive there would prob be a decent margin for this product so why wouldn't it be considered. Hypothetically, if ESP were watching this thread or were the driving force behing it, I for one would consider this forward thinking. Is it just me or isn't this what collectors have been screaming out for in the last few years? Something new (and possibly controversial)
Food for thought.

When you look at some of those Booklet cards in Playbook or other similar release, having a card like that would be amazing, a large piece of the jersey on oneside a nice action picture of the player and a awesome oncard signature on the other side, what collector wouldnt want that, but at the expense of an old school jersey, i would hate to see one butchered, but what if they came across one that was in such a bad state its pretty much patches anyway. surely turning into a card would preserve that history a little longer.
Modern Player Patch/jersey cards would be something i would like to see included more often in collection i am a big fan of movie costume cards. imagine a State of origin Captains Call Booklet Smith/Gallen Maroon one side Blue the other piece of Jersey and an Autograph.. ahh i can dream.
This is the thing that really grinds my gears, and I'll preface this by saying that ESP listens to us mere collectors more than any of the other companies but it won't be that hard to get jersey cards into products.
The issue is that these companies don't think like us collectors.....they think like business people making a product.
I personally submitted a financial proposal to ESP that would have made game worn jersey cards a reality. Sure there were up front costs but let me say they were going to make a fairly decent profit on them.
Got told that while the proposal stacked up, they just weren't going to do it.
It's all about the initiative, do you want to do the bare minimum or do you want to really strive to give collectors something they really want.
Cheers
Matt
youré nuts.I can offer Ron Coote's 1971 Grand Final winning Souths jersey if they want it!
Its got to be better than offering up the same old shit parallel cards year after year, and the same format of cards year after year, in order of teams, ie.I want to spice up this debate and apologise to Matt if he feels I'm hijacking this thread. As you say Matt, they ( esp) have a 5 year contact with the NRL, IN THAT TIME THEY WILL ENDEAVOUR TO GET AS MANY nrl PLAYERS ON CONTRACTS AS THEY CAN, BECAUSE THATS WHAT THERE GOAL IS.This is the thing that really grinds my gears, and I'll preface this by saying that ESP listens to us mere collectors more than any of the other companies but it won't be that hard to get jersey cards into products.

so what is historic?
What if it was a state of origin jersey from recent years?
recently you may have seen Hawthorn auctioned off it's guernseys from the AFL grand final (the wore 2 - 1 for auction in 1 half and 1 for the player in the other half) - what if select bought them and put them into cards? Is that a historic jersey?
