Yes this stuff probably happens in the AFL and is well covered up but...what Ping doesn't know won't hurt him

No nothing happens in the AFL, I'm sure.

I agree the NRL has a reputation for trouble but the AFL is no better, in fact given the amount of drug related incidents that keep coming up I'd say it is probably worse but have better media relations.

I hadn't intended to go AFL v NRL but here's a small list I found about AFL incidents this year only and it's not over yet.


# Richmond's Troy Taylor was accused of assault in Alice Springs.

# Geelong's Mathew Stokes was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking of cocaine. Stokes was suspended for eight matches and fined $5,000 for bringing the AFL into disrepute. He was cleared of the trafficking charge; he was placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond and fined $3,000 on the possession charge.

# Richmond players engaged in a brawl after a lengthy drinking session and damaged the team's hotel after the team's loss to the Sydney Swans in Round 3. # Following an AFL investigation into gambling on a 2010 NAB Cup semi-final and the 2009 AFL Grand Final, six officials were named for breaching the AFL anti-gambling code. The officials named are goal umpire Chris Appleton, interchange stewards Wayne Siekman and John Wise (suspended for the remainder of the season (20 matches)), timekeeper Matthew Hollington (suspended for five matches), Port Adelaide assistant coach Matthew Primus (suspended for two matches), and Western Bulldogs director Geoff Walsh (fined $7,500).

Anyone who thinks either of the codes is worse than the other is kidding themselves. You take any group of 400+ people, whether they be NRL players, AFL players, builders, doctors, randoms off the street or who ever, there is always going to be a bunch of idiots in a group that large.

I do agree with you in that the AFL are better at covering up things though.
