After their success in 2008 Topps Chipz have returned for 2009 promising a New Season, New Players and More fun. 2008 could not of gone off better for the new brand in AFL trading card type products, although Topps and Topps Chipz are well know throughout the hobby industry with products in other countries and other sports more notably the NBA and NFL they have now become a welcome site to the with AFL Chipz.
2009 series I would expect would have a few small changes and the information on the break down of the set to date has not been released however below are the details that have become available.
For more information read on..........
Topps has once again pounce early with their release information, something that collectors would prefer from all companies as it give the collector time to save, prepare and talk about the upcoming release. This is a sign of confidence in their product and by all accounts after the 2008 season Topps should be proud.
For 2009 they have supplied the following details and images and by the looks they will deliver another good quality product for the hobby.
Due for arrival in March 2009
The Return of the Jersey Die Cut is awesome. The Gold Foil Sig looks good. Rookie looks the same as usual. Interesting with the arrangements of the 2 sets of Gem Cards. The Double Trouble are cool too. Interesting to see which Teams get a card of Double Trouble.
In a box now you should get
The Normal Base Cards
36 Jersey Die Cuts
6 Gold Foil Sigs
1 Rookie
2 Star Gem
1 Mascot Gem
i had at look at the new release for 2009 i didn't think they were that great
My mate pointed out that die cut cards are a basketball 90s invention lol.
So there like behind the eight ball by at least 18 years no wonder i haven't got back into collecting AFL cards
i think about a month ago i bought a pack of AFL cards at the news agency to see if like the cards at all before i spend money of getting some boxes of AFL cards
Sorry mate, couldnt help but correct you, well not correct but... you know. Mascots are 1:3 boxes. Just to clarify for others as you had all other inserts as per box.
Its debateable that fact and wheather if it is bad/good that a thng that came from BBall cards has been incorperated into AFL cards for the second time now. Because alot of AFL collectors who collect BBall too have been complaining that Select should use BBall inserts for ideas. Even some people who collect just AFL have said how jealous they are at BBall collectors because of the top inserts.

too much acetate cards for my liking!
3 different types in one series is quite abit, id rather some inserts on actual card stock.
But in saying that at least their are some small changes/innovations this year!

This was in the NAB cup magazine, not sure if the NRL has a similar mag??
I would suspect that select are only a few days away from releasing all the info on series 1. But from what i have heard, the cards wont be avaliable until late end of march. Hopefully we know more very soon!!
