Just wondering how you guys go about handling this? I went to send one the other day & I knew the system was f**ked up, but not this f**ked up!!!

I said I wanted to send a bubble mailer registered OS & was told that unless the item is a document then I would have to buy a pre-paid envelope.

First off...... the small pre-paid one was too small to fit the bubble mailer in & was like $10.85 to boot...... then the large one was a whopping $17!!!

Then I thought what about insurance & holy crap...... $7.85 or something just to insure it for $75....

How do you guys go about handling things like this? Are there any smaller bubble mailers you get that will actually fit in the smaller envelopes?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

ask the post office for the pink advice of delivery cards. I have used these about 3 times to send bubble mailers overseas, and I'm sure it cost no more than $3. I can give you a serial number to give to your local post office. But I know what you mean, every time you go to the post office, everyone has a different idea on what you can and cant do.

Hey mate... that would be great if you could give me the serial number.... so I just quote this number to the post office & they'll give me what I need?

top right hand corner 8836934 . CN 07 2/02 Not sure which part they could use, but I'm sure that some of it would help. They're fantastic cards, you send off package, and about 2 weeks later you get the same card back saying that it's been signed for. Great for high end cards and dodgy buyers.

Can that be used on any form of postage?

It's just delivery confirmation tho, is that correct?

This is from another post I made, it's a card I sent off to the US with $50 insurance on it.

I wanted Registered & Insruance. Turns out, we can register a letter, but can't have insurance on it, and we can insure a parcel, but couldnt register it....

It cost me $17.25AU

That was:
$0.90c for bubble mailer
$8.50 parcel post to USA
$7.85 Insurance

I had quoted $13.50US postage, which left me about $0.80c out of pocket. (should have been $14).

lol sorry... but not quite sure what you're talking about there; in fact... you've confused the hell outta me..

It's a pink confirmation of delivery card (not the NBA card you are sending lol). When the postie arrives with the package in the US, the recipient signs the pink card for the postie and he takes it back after his shift to the USPS Office. They then return the pink card to your address so you know the parcel made it and was signed for.
Topps used this method for sending redemption RC's to Australia I think.

You are not the only one lol
I have a couple higher end stuff to mail out and am interested in the replies :D
Never got registered and insurance before myself!

Hope it helps.

Well I went & inquired about those pink card thingies & yeah.... they're good if you want to know that the other person received the item ok; but no good for finding the item if it gets lost like you can with registered post.

I bought one of those $10+ international registered envelopes & packaged the cards inside in bubble wrap & I was told that it was "too thick" & I would have to use the larger "$17" one......

;)

blah blah... i need to use 10 characters.

I was just having problems with this a few weeks back trying to send 14 cards to France. I bought a 10.85 prepaid registered international envelope that turned out to be too small.. I managed to fit everything inside but it was too thick because it has to be less than 5mm which is ridiculous because on the website it says 2cm. I had to re-arrange the contents and remove a few toploaders to make everything go.

I think I would have been better off just sending cards in a padded envelope which doesn't have to be a parcel.

FYI,

I just sent off a card today, needed to be insured for $200AU.

Cost me $19.45AU all up.

Padded Mailer = $1.00
Postage (0.089kg) = $8.50
Insurance = $9.95

Thought I'd share it with y'all.

Rip? Covers my arse should the buyer wanna take a trip with PayPal.

Considering the buyer pays postage, it's fair on all accounts.

I'll pay $11-$15US postage on a high-ender from the US no probs!
