Real or Fake Kobe Auto??

In my opinion, it looks fake to me buddy.

It's like, too obvious. I know his auto is probably quite easy to forge but that one just doesn't look right.

oooh didnt we see one of these before

his early autos look very different to the current ones - signing differently and all.

i think it is legit, his sig has evolved over time though

OK Mike... fair enough.... I never paid attention to his much earlier autos but perhaps, Vinsanity or other Kobe collectors can confirm better.

I just happened to recall seeing a similar card posted at Beckett awhile back ago. Since it is of a Scoreboard company, I think it was quite easy to forge signatures on this set, unfortunately.

Just have a look at this Iverson from the same set...

There were Topps ones if I remember last time?

I just ask cos there's a lot of contro with these style cards, esp. with the Iversons.

The auto to me LOOKS quite ok, but I'm not experienced with these ones.... Thought I'd ask.

Ta.

EDIT:
Damn that AI looks dodge!

Whilst the Auto looks fake, that is an actual legit card I think, I know there was a Duncan in that set that I have seen before, and it was definately a legit card with a legit auto. Maybe Kobe just wrote a bit different then, he was only 17 or so after all.

what i dont get is how someone could obtain an unautographed card to forge, such as these which state "Authentic Autograph"

So the verdict is????

I know they're legit cards, the only autos I've seen now are AI & KB. So I dunno what the others look like. The AI's definately look suss!

Yes there are both fake versions of both the Kobe and Iverson. The cards were from when Scoreboard went bust.

These cards were unsigned, with a certificate of authenticity on the back.....the athlete was yet to sign them.

These cards werent destroyed and made it into circulation where they have been signed by someone other than the player and sold as authentic.

In most cases, its best to stay away from scoreboard autos....especially the later versions.

Cheers

This just popped up-
The seller speaks very little english and I needed to know more info about this card. I can't find it on the Olajuwon list under what he has listed on it and he doesn't understand when asking for the card number. Just wanted to check if its a fake or not and the value?
wadda ya reckon ?

matty,hendra???

Hey man, first of all, welcome back from your holiday. I hope you had a great time over there.

It's hard to tell with these old ScoreBoard releases, huh?

But from my observation with the Iverson ScoreBoard autos, I've found that if the player signed the card with a thin blue ink/pen, there are more chances that the autograph may be legit.

Compare these 2 and the one I posted earlier on this thread.

So yes, I think that there is a slight chance that the Hakeem could be real, as I think his auto on that SB card, looks consistant with his other autos but again, I don't trust SB products because of this real/fake flaw, hence, I don't have any Iverson auto made by SB.
