I was just looking at ebay and it had a jersey on there signed, that I thought at its price represented good value. The auction says it comes with a COA from PSA DNA. I seem to remember PSA as being just about at the top of the pile card-grading wise, but how about signed memorabilia wise? Any thoughts?

A lot depends on who the player is......if you can share that and a photo you may get some expert advice here to thoughts about how real it is...PSA are good however like all grading companies, Ive seen some shockers slip through!

do your research and ask a lot of questions, if it's genuine then the seller will have no problems sending you more detailed pics but if they hesitate and make excuses then be wary, PSA are reputable and I can't say that I've seen anything bad from them but just do your homework before clicking that BIN button.

Good luck and there should be a certificate number you can check online.:v:

Ok, thanks for the advice. Might shoot the person a msg tomorrow to see if I can get a bit more info...

Thats some good advice. Also, does it come with an archival record number? Perhaps you can trace it backk to the authentication process.

Yeah its not an 'authentic' jersey as it states. Thats what they call 'custom' :D
IMO youre essentially paying $200 for the signature, coz its not worth the material its signed on.
Better off spending another 50-100 for one thats been signed on an authentic or a swingman.

I don't like the look of it one bit.... There is no clear view of the auto (big sign) and the jersey is cheap as... I'd stay away from this... I have been burnt with signed stuff before (I have spent over $800 on "fake" memorabila that came with COA's) and will not buy anything signed off ebay unless it's card auto's released by the card companies who have massive reputations to uphold and can't just create a new user id once their busted and keep selling... over 90% of the signed stuff on ebay is fake they say so save your money and get a nice Magic on card auto or find out who he as signings with and while it may cost more at least it's real if there's been an official signing arrangement.

go here if you want, they should be able to help you if you want to consult some really knowledgable ppl in the field Autograph Magazine Live! - The Authentic Experience

I have only recently got back into the hobby (from low level auto memorabilia collecting, got some awesome stuff myself and bought some dodgy stuff online) to really only start collecting sports/entertainment card auto's (slowly) I don't bust packs or boxes but I'll buy singles because I have faith in it's authenticity.... Everything else, unless you pretty much get it signed yourself, you really have no idea (unless you have a really trusted dealer I guess... some are legit for sure, prob is finding them).... PSA/DNA means stuff all as well..... I recommend everyone visit the site Autograph Magazine Live! - The Authentic Experience just to gain some knowledge so you don't get sucked in and ripped off... some of the **** that goes on in this industry is mind boggling.... it's also hard to get convictions because sellers can just blame their "source" and it's not something governments really fund their law enforcement agencies to crack down on and for every 1 they catch, 5 more pop up....

PSA/DNA etc etc means a lot more the "stuff all"...

Yes there are a hell of a lot of fakes around, especially on ebay. But if you do your research, use PSA/DNA etc etc as part of that research, compare as many auto's as you can to the one you are buying and also seek info about the seller then you should be ok.

PSA/DNA do have a great reputation around the hobby and have for many, many years!!! They are not going to just chuck COA's around for auto's as they please, they have a reputation to uphold and a business to keep running!

While the link to that website you posted looks very helpful, I'd use that as another tool within my research! I'd still trust a company like PSA/DNA, rather then just going off of a website like that! At the end of the day diligent research is whats needed to avoid getting burnt!!

Sorry but PSA/DNA can just as well be forgeries these days... be suspicious of anything that makes a profit from authentication. their are just as many dodgy authentication "experts" out their as their are legit ones.... Christopher Morales is court approved forensic certifier and he has now been exposed... only after he's probably PSA/DNA'ed millions of dollars worth of fake memorabilia..... PSA & DNA does mean "stuff all" if you don't do your homework.... I wasn't saying all of it is meaningless. I probably should have said "PSA/DNA can mean stuff all". too many ppl think by paying a heap more for DNA/PSA is all they need to do to be protect from fakes.... Crap! you can easily get bent over with PSA/DNA if you don't do your own homework
