Questions for team collectors!

Considering starting up a team collection and had a few Q's:

Those of you who collect teams, do you collect anything and everything from that team? e.g. base cards (old sets or new?), gu's, auto, #'ed, parallels, retro sets? Or do you limit to only certain years/card types?

Also, do you only collect players that are pictured in that team's uniform? E.g. KG in a Celtics uniform but not Wolves?

When I first started collecting Knicks I would collect anything and everything. After awhile I limited myself to Autos only as there are just way to many cards.

Hey Brad, I have collected Celtic cards for the last 25 years. The way I've done it that I have collected everything from the 1948 bowman up to the mid 90's and since then I go for each base set celtics and what ever inserts I can get. Also they have to have a celtics jersey on and it's gotta be a celtics card. Hope that helps.
Ps it gets bloody expensive.

Thanks for your help guys - I think I'll start a Magic collection, as I was a huge fan when Shaq was drafted so I already have lots of 90's Magic cards!

I collect anything and everything for my team, albeit dont really chase the low low numbered cards. Base sets/jerseys/autos would give
you heaps to aim for. And also like others I only collect players in my teams uni. (you wouldnt want to look at Howard cards in a yellow uni
would you?)

I'd start off with a couple of bulk lots off ebay to get started like:

Goto beckett and search for your team to get a checklist started too

I only do Autos and I only do them if they are pictured in a Nuggets jersey.

i.e. Melo in a Denver jersey but not New York.

I'm not a team collector, but I have a friend in the states who is Piston's mad. He's after absolutely everything pistons - as long as the card says the player was with the pistons that year or even if it's a Team USA set - as long as they played the pistons in that particular year, he has to have it.

If you're after base cards as a starter, I've got two packing boxes as well as two 2000ct boxes of sings of cards that I sort through for you. It'll lighten my load a bit.

For the teams I collect, I collect any card of that team as long as the uni is of that team.

I personally collect anything and everything, I will collect them if they are in the uniform, but also as I collect base sets, if the card says Minnesota Timberwolves, but they are pictured in college uniform or another NBA team, I still add that too. That comes down to personal choice though

That's be great thanks! I can help out with postage cost if you'd like! Definitely collecting Orlando - they have to be in Magic uniform or Team USA/All Star at the time they played for Orlando.
