QUERY: CRICKET terminology

Hi all,

This will seem a very stupid question, but what is the actual name of the box/hatch embedded in the ground at square leg, where the cricket umpires keep the spare ball, helmets, etc?


Any help greatly appreciated.

Its accessed through a "hatch flush" but to my knowledge there is not any sort of special name for it.

not all grounds have them.

Champion!!! Wikipedia concurs. Wonder if the SCG will too (I emailed them, wonder if I'll get a response).

I'm writing a futuristic thriller where a meeting takes place on a cricket oval, and they escape via the hatch flush to a sub-terraean tunnel system.

I like putting reminders in the text to go back and find the real name, but this one was killing me.
