In a far back corner of Panini America HQ, tucked away in a remote section of the company’s massive acquisitions vault, NHL product developers Chris Barr, Karvin Cheung and Matthew Davis in June began the arduous process of handcrafting 2012-13 Prime Hockey. To be sure, the highly anticipated follow-up to one of last season’s most successful new products will have far to go to top that maiden launch.
Few will argue with the fact that the Prime Colors insert from last season’s Prime Hockey delivered some of the most breathtaking memorabilia cards in hockey history. But equipped with just the right game-worn memorabilia, steady hands and accurate measurements, raising the bar on that super-premium staple is not just a possibility, it’s a foregone conclusion.
During the June Universal Distribution open house in Montreal, Panini America stole the show not just by delivering special guest Alex Galchenyuk of the Montreal Canadiens, but also by presenting a wow-inducing video that details just how painstaking and precise a product like Prime Hockey has to be.
Today, we present that video for your enjoyment and edification. Be sure to stick around after the video for a captivating gallery of the memorabilia that’s been cut so far for the product. And stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of 2012-13 Prime Hockey.
