I've always thought it was funny for the AFL, that their basic 'kids' set - Champions - is all the stars, and the collectors set - Select Posh - is all nuffies.
For mine, a 18 card per team set (in-between Traders and Elite) with all the bells and whistles would suffice, along with a Powerplay / DT set for kids would be enough. Then you have your posher rep set and smaller GF winners box set.

I hate how someone like a Ben Lowe or a Dave Tyrrell always misses out. But that said, with every release I get a bit OCD and want the top players in the set - Burgess, Luke, GI, Reynolds, etc.
I actually proposed to ESP recently a Traders Update Box Set (to come out about June/July each year) which would have featured players not able to be included in the initial release of Traders (due to production timings). You could have 5-6 cards for each team of players that have just joined a team or new rookies that have make their mark.
They said that Elite is the set in which they have done this and will cover this again with new images for the teams/players and 2014 photos.

Theres an idea for a Traders low end insert Matt! have a few per team of headshots of recruits as they wouldnt have a body shot but it should be possible to do something like this:
a foil finish with Star recruit, New Signing or something clever, would be a nice addition and it can be done as player shots are released the year before right?
Those cards ruined the 2011 champs team sets but as a low end insert would look cool

I like this theory for all common sets. Get rid of parallels and have an 18 card team set comprised of at the least the top 13 (maybe with the jersey number somewhere on the card), club logo with info on the back or at least as a team check list, coach, best back and best forward or similar
Or why don't they just bring out a new set every week , they're struggling to give you 3 quality sets a year now !!! Bring back predictors & redemption cards...
