Seems Aust. post has changed their system and we can no longer send anything to the US.........
OK not quite that bad but there is no facility to send a package (Anything bigger than documents eg. cards) via registered post. You used to be able to insure it instead but now you can do neither. Tried to insure something tonight and the lady couldn't do it
Originally I was told no registered on packages at my normal PO but I could insure it.
Then tonight I went to a different PO and they said you can't do either and she said it must have only changed in the last fortnight, she was quite shocked and already had me filling out the forms and everything
Being that most of us accept PayPal when selling, we need to include insurance, just for the instance that something bad should happen, what's our cheapest option?
I looked at ECI for insurance of $100, it said $38!!!!
It would help if they changed things and let people know about it. they haven't even updated their information on their website abount any changes.
About the Global priority, there is an Express Post international Prepaid envelope that will fit a small padded envelope in it. It is intended for only documents but I send cards with them. It costs about $10-11.
And yes, Australia Post is extremely expensive. for the same service as what you get in US, I think we are paying x1.5-2 as much as they are. And it is even cheaper in some of the Asian countries.
Hello all,
Just wanted to give you all a tip, when ever i send any parcels local or overseas i just put a few stamps on them. If what i am sending is a bit heavy say 1kg or under i put $5 or $6 on it - i send magazines to a friend in the UK a lot. Took them in to get weighed etc and they wanted $40 for air mail or $20 for sea mail. I put $6 on it put it in the mail box and he always gets it.
Only been sent one bill from Aust Post for not putting enough stamps on one of the parcels but that one was a couple of kgs...
If it is to big to put in the mail box you cant do it but if it fits in the mail box give it a go. Now i have been doing this for at least 15 years with no problems and no lost parcels..
