Hi all,

If theres one thing I hate its people that try and dictate to you what postage should be for ebay purchases.

I had someone today dictate the price to mail a card to Belgium saying it costs 92c. Do people think the bubble wrap post bags, sleeves, top loaders and your own personal time to go to the post office is free?

I'd appreciate other peoples thoughts on this matter and any suggestions would be welcome aswell.

Cheers

I've seen complaints from both sides and i can see points from both sides but the 1 thing i will say is i don't think the buyer should pay 4 the time it takes to wrap and post stuff but then again i'm not a seller so maybe bias but thats my take , as long as its within reason sounds good

Depends what you are charging for envelope etc Watto....I came across an auction the other day where they were charging $8.95 postage from the US to Aus, for standard airmail..nowi mean its $1.80ish for postage + bubble mailer, top loader and sleave is a max of $4...$8.95 is just excessive so isent them an email and they pretty much told me i didnt know what i was on about and thats what it costs...so i didnt bid, nobody else did and the item went unsold;)

While I never bother commenting on expensive shipping anymore.

But being a 99.9999% buyer, I just factor it in if I bid for an item. If it's too high, then it just means my bid will be lower.

On a trading and selling point of view, well, I have only really sold or traded on this forum, and I have sent all cards by express post except for a huge Zo lot which wouldn't fit. But, it all depends of how much reassuarnec you want when selling an item.

Thanks for your input guys!

My charges are the following which I think is pretty fair:

Anywhere Australia normal post - $3.00 covers the $1 post charge, the bubble wrap bag, sleeve, top loader and that brings it roughly to around $2.40-$2.60. I round to $3 because I do include my time from packaging to making the trip to the post office as it all costs money.

Worlwide is $5.00 which since I started sending things worldwide I know it only equates to about $4.00 so I will be lowering my post price for worldwide.

I do agree with you all on the people that sell worldwide and have prices like $7 and $8.95 which is double the price of what it actually does cost.

Any feedback is welcome.

Cheers

Like I said, being a buyer 99.99999% of the time, what I pay in shipping really varies.

From the US, I pay like anwhere from $3.00 - $9.00. And that's US.

For high end items, it's like $18 - $32 US a pop.

So, on your prices for international, I think that is very fair.

I post a lot of stuff overseas and if I were you I would stick with the $5.00. I charge $4.50 for up to 8 cards and after postage (usually $3.70 plus envelope plus handling and packaging fees (yes bas, ebay allows us to charge a reasonable amount for handling and packaging), $4.50 is fairly close to the mark. You will make a loss charging $4.00

A couple of tricks i have been told by my by Post office is to write "printed matter only" on the envelope if posting overseas as this way it will go at airmail letter rate. As soon as you complete a customs declaration it has to be sent as a small parcel which costs around $9.00, so if it can be avoided don't complete the customs declaration.

They will ask what the printed matter is, I just tell them photos.

I usually tell them basketball cards if they ask what it is and i get funny looks so i just give funny looks back ;)
