Point Cook?

Thanks Harsha but wanting personal experience

I was only joking, but on a serious note, doesn't it involve something with captain cook when he conquered Australia maybe the naming of the place?

i don't think even know what i'm talking about.....

Probably a historical type of place:thumbsup:

Funny you ask, My Family and I were looking to moving to Point Cook about 2 Years ago, but other Job commitments put an end to it. Even went there for a good look around and looked at many houses for sale in and around the area. Some of the display homes were magnificent!
There are some very new areas, also some older areas. My main concern was the STENCH! the place just smelt of the smelters/industrial area not too far away. Lots of development up that area, and certainly a place on the rise!! nice place overall, but the smell was the only real off putting part!!

It's not bad. Mainly town houses all brand new, a massive area but everything looks the same there's no originality. About a 30 minute drive to the city. Ohh yeah it smells like **** to.

Don't forget that Point Cook was the birthplace of the Australian Flying Corps & the Royal Australian Air Force...........I have only been there a couple of times and found it a place I was happy to leave as it was just too far from anywhere

hahaha I been thinking about starting this thread myself as I moved to melb not so long ago.

What suburbs people recommend where by basketball cards will be the safest from bogans trying to rob my house?

Yeh thats why i always use a PO BOX address, not an actual living address!

Hey peoples, ok I live at Werribee south, about 10 Km's from Point Cook. I was in Hoppers Crossing for a couple of years before that, Hoppers, Point Cook and Werribee are all in same area, the suburbs themselves are great, plenty of shopping centers and sports facilities etc, I personally have had no issues with burglary's, theft etc but as with all major residential areas it happens. As for the smells etc, a lot of the smell actually comes from the fertilizers used by the veggie farmers at Werribee south, the skin drying sheds in Nth Laverton, the actual sewerage plant releases bugger all smell, I have been here for over 12 mths now and am used to the smell now. Probably one of the biggest factors is where you work and how you get there. The freeway into the city can get pretty busy in morning and afternoon.

Hope that helps a bit fella's

Rob

Where are you living currently?

The industry I work in mainly has companies in CBD and east and north east areas. ATM I work in CBD.

So I am in a rental apartment in Southbank, which is pretty safe.

But that is dead money and I want to get a house with a yard so I can have animals and mroe than 2 rooms of space haha.

You definitely need a place big enough have a room dedicated to storing your card collection when considering moving!

Hey Guys this has been great I am a city boy but would like to live in a suburb what a safe place with nice home not to expensive ?

The majority of Melbourne suburbs are very safe, especially in relation to the rest of the world. It really depends what YOU want in a suburb. Personally I'd love to live in a place like Hurstbridge but it is out in the sticks and it would a long drive for both myself and my girlfriend to get to work/uni.

So we picked Rosanna in the north-eastern suburbs; its a 5 minute drive to uni for me and nearby to a train line that takes me to work and also near the Eastern Freeway for my girlfriend to get to work. It is also got a supermarkets within walking distance, as well as a couple of nice cafes and restaurants and has the Northland shopping centre nearby, but that's secondary to the convenience of easy travel to uni/work for me and my girlfriend.

Overall, anywhere in the east or north east is pretty decent, but its a got a price tag to match.

Yer I been considering areas like Rosanna, watsonia, lower plenty, greensbourgh etc.. maybe one of the newer suburbs like doreen (but they futher out). As long as the train can get me to work (in cbd) within 45mins MAYBE an hour one way they that is my goal of location as anthing closer is way to expensive.
