So, if i get what i have been reading correctly the system works like this.
(some of you guys may know this already)

we start an offer system, which is pretty basic really.

so seller puts up card/s on the lets say 7-day-offer system

During those 7 days people can offer what ever they want for the sellers cards
eg. post pictures in the offer thread of what they want to trade.

So at the moment you're probably thinking Matty you idiot that's just the same as a trade thread.

yeah you would be right, but here is the kicker

At the end of the 7-day-offer (or 3,5 whatever) The cards have to change hands

meaning 2 things, the seller has to be willing to let go of the cards and the buyer must have and be willing to let go of theirs.

At the moment i just wanted to float this, as im not 100% sold on it.

Please let me know what you guys think.

Positive or negative feedback is good along with suggestions.

GO!

i think its worth a shot, ill throw a few up as i have no experience in trading or selling. money offers would be silent?

With the money it would be a choice we make at the start. Either we allow it, or we make it cards only.

This idea will generate more trades, (which the site seems to be lacking)
Obviously the seller has the right to choose which trade offer he/she likes.

It will be great for getting rid of those unwanted gu/auto for a possible pc pick up. (yes i know that can be achieved through the trade section) but this way a result is guaranteed.

It could be a way to take the "pm offers" out of sale threads, if it had a dedicated section.

Looks ok on paper.

I dont really expect this to attract high end cards (it may) but im sort of thinking it will be more suited to the little fish eg. me.

I'd still expect it to attract both die hard collectors and the casual hobbyist though.

Matty, your an idiot.... Na just kidding. I think as you said later on it will be a great way of getting rid of the unwanted cards. You know what they say. `One man's trash is another mans treasure.`
I say give it a shot..

Don't know where you're getting this from. 1200 feedback in the last month alone suggests otherwise?

Does that include sales?
Or is it just trading?

Im not sure if i have access to the stats so im not sure. It was just a general opinion that it "seems" quiet.

Is the rest of the idea plausible?

I played a game once (not on forums but on trade day), not suggesting we do it on forum.

We had about 15 people playing the game and all 15 of us formed a circle around a table. We all had to put in 14 cards each based on an agreed value, say $50 worth of cards (you could use a referee to make sure that it adds up to $50). Each of us would have a box to conceal our cards. What then happens, is that we all pass our individual box to our left. Everyone will have 1 minute to decide on the one card they want to keep and the rest would then be passed on to our left and so on. They will continue until there are no more cards left the in the boxes. The cards are all hidden in a box so that nobody else can see them until you get the box. So in essence, everyone gives up 14 cards but all gains 14 new cards. We really had a ball of a time playing that and happy to get rid of cards that we no longer want to see.

I honestly don't see what's different to what we have now??

I think on the main part it would be the guarantee that cards change hands and on the side it would help take the pm offers out of sale threads. If it had its own dedicated section.

I undestand it doesn't seem very different, I'll continue researching it to find out other positives / negatives (if any)

One could be that at least you dont have to put your cards on ebay and worry about waiting 21 days for the funds.

hi Matty

It is conceptually very different. The current norm/rhetoric assumption in the sportscard hobby is that everyone makes an offer or willing to gave up certain cards or $$$ for a KNOWN card/s. This is one where everyone is familiar with. What you suggesting is completely different whereby everyone gives up certain card or $$ for a UNKNOWN card/s. Sounds similiar but it is not. A lot of these alternative style of trade come from the gaming card side of the hobby whereby things like booster draft games are highly popular.
