Ok, so a mate at work hooked me up with a copy of Portal. I believe it's something to do with Half Life (or HL2 at least???).
Anyways, I've just finished all 19 levels, and can't be bothered with the harder ones.
Tried to download some other maps, and none of them work, so that's crap too.
OT, but anyways, looking to get my first FPS game for the PC. Something with a sense of reality would be good, sick of playing these games where you have to shoot **** that's just not real (Doom, Wolfenstein, and all them others with critters, and alien type fiends).
Any suggestions???
Not sure if I'll play online yet, maybe, but not sure.
(keep in mind, there's a really high chance the game won't be legit copy).
Cant go past the BATTLEFIELD series. Its one of my fav games both single player and online. Very realistic and you use tactics unlike other FPS's. The bulk of gameplay revolves around two army's (i.e. China vs USA) going at each other taking over all bases using modern weaponry including vehicles such as tanks and even helicopters. Battlefield 2 is by far the best FPS in the series that I've played to date.
Also, Call Of Duty is fun. Multiplayer is good also. Very fast pased.
Counterstrike was fun back in the day.
You can buy all of the above cheap from EB games so that way its all legit and dont have to stuff around with dodgy servers etc.. Oh and you need a somewhat decent video card and processor to take advantage of graphics and gameplay.
Blood and Gore eh.. Then Battlefield isnt for you.. Go for the Soldier Of Fortune series. There are three versions with SOF1 being oldest but most violent. SOF3 looks cool but not sure if it was released in Aus.
Hey mate if you want a free first person with a bit of realism then download Americas army. Its short on blood and gore and its totally multiplayer but its pretty addictive. One of my mates has clocked up over 2000 hours on it lol. Nothing better than headshotting a person in full sprint using a 50cal sniper rifle
I love BF2. Havent played it in a while now, but when it first came out I played it a heap. Especially playing with friends on the same side, its great working together toward a common goal, or just being a pain and grabbing a jeep and going head first into the opposing base...great fun.
I'm all about Battlefield 2142 and Call of Duty 4 (it has blood when you shoot someone in the head - it splatters blood on the ground/wall.... it's cool!)

Not sure if my PC @ home is capable of running it tho. Notebook should be:
HP Pavilion dv6000 series (6218tx)
Intel Core 2 - 1.83GHz
2GB Ram (have 4GB, but told don't need any more than 2).
Has GeForce 7400 Graphics Card (any good?)
And running a 1.5MB Internet Connection (via wireless) - so may need to cable it to play online, yeah?
hi mate, look laptops aren't built for gaming so you wont get top res on any of them, typically if you've got a notebook you'd want specs on it above the minimum on the game.
COD 4 has been mentioned but I'll vouch for it too. FPS that's not really wrapped up in realism but more Sci Fi/Fantasy - Bioshock, couldn't get enough of it but doesn't sound like one you're after. The reality isn't there as it's not meant to be of this world but what it lacks there it makes up for in blood, gore and other psychotic themes.
yeah usually it's ok to buy them (if they're new and sealed) from cheaper asian sellers. just dont buy them second hand cuz online rego key only works for one account.
