Hey i went to pay for something via paypal today and got this message
You must add a credit card to complete this purchase because either the seller does not accept eCheques, or there is a problem with the bank account on file. Some payments, like instant and immediate payments, require a credit card.
I have never got this message before and my bank account was working fine when i paid for something a few days ago. So my question is what can i do to pay for this item seeing i have no credit card? or is there a way around this where i can pay for the item via my bank account? Sorry for the stupid question everybody!
ahhh dunno how to help ya mate except maybe upload the credit card of someone close to you? wife, partner or good old mum? I don't have a credit card myself but I use my missus's plastic for paypal.
Not sure if this is something to do with an update that PayPal have done. I was FORCED to add a Bank Account to my account once, couldnt make payments for a week.
i think its because the thing you are trying to pay for is more than is on your balance at the minute and the seller doesnt accept echeques (ie direct payment from your bank account) so you will have to add funds to your paypal balance before you can pay for it
cool so if i add the ammount i need to my paypal account then once that is done i can just do the check out thing as normal and it should work? thenx heaps for the help!
i pay via bank account i havnt been using it for very long maybe 4 or 5 times now but yeh i will try to deposit the money later tonite hopefully that works!
With ya. Yeah if there's insufficient funds it'll tell ya straight up (prior to payment) and then it'll require another form of payment (hence asking for a Credit Card).
Damn It this is just geting worse and worse lol! Now when i go to add the funds to my paypal account i can only do it in AUD but i need to pay in USD. I think ill just use my old mans CC for this one and hope it never happens again
damn confusing Paypal!!!!

I've had a situation where I had to make payment for an auction and my PayPal account is linked onto my bank account and I've also got my credit card details held also.
I'm sure you're all aware when checking your bank balance using netbanking, sometimes it won't update to your current bank account balance instantly and can take many days for netbank to update you of your existing bank balance.
Anyway, I had made payment for the auction, where my bank balance was showing that I was quite capable to cover the full payment, at the time payment was made.
A few days later, I got an e-mail from PayPal, advising me that my bank account didn't have the necessary funds and neither did my credit card to cover for that auction. So what happened was, PayPal payed and covered the auction payment on my behalf, however, my PayPal balance status was then changed onto a negative amount, which meant my PayPal account was inactive until I make an effort to neutralise my PayPal balance and I had to wait 5-7 days for me to transfer the required money onto my PayPal balance. In all of this, I was charged with a $35 fee from Commonwealth Bank. #-o
