PayPal is extending claim time for opening dispute from 45 days now to 180 days.

All PayPal changes and decisions are made for the buyer so they can score the 2.7% commission. It's about giving more protection and making buyers more comfortable with the system to increase volume.

Agree, way too long.

So long as we can track all the details via Ebay and Australia Post. Ie, we can still prove it was delivered, etc it should be OK.

Imagine being a $10k a month seller on Ebay and you receiving half a dozen claims 2.5 months after they've sold. You'd be that careless you'd just accept and move on. People will lose out on this, I bet!

The claim period should remain 45 days, and instead of starting from day purchased, start it form the date the item was received. Or even reduce it to 30 days after it says received on tracking site. This would eliminate those scammer sellers who purposely send it via the slowest method in the hope the claim period expires.

Anything sent without tracking is at sellers risk.

Am all for it. My miss's got some stuff off eBay, it didn't show up so we contacted the seller and waited 2 days like PayPal told us, still no response so filed a claim, only to have PayPal say they can't claim it because it was 2 days over the 45 day claim window now. We only waited those extra days because they told us to, only to screw us, very unhappy with PayPal atm

180 days is way too extreme, even 70 days would be the maximum for someone to figure out if they're likely to receive something and take action- even then I it's a lot, I personally would have put it at 50 days

I agree it's way too long. But, I bet you they're doing it because most major credit cards allow 180 days for charge backs and Paypal probably doesn't want to be holding the bag if someone used a card via PP and demanded a charge back after the 45.

I think it's great, for the simple reason of i have bought countless things on eBay along with the miss's, and have had atleast 3 times where we have had to file a no item received case because of slow australian post and slack sellers only for the item to show up a couple of months, but because once PayPal told us to wait right up to the last day to NHL killed me to the time of $200, lucky I picked a 9 fold in the tennis and only end up down $40 for the day, staying away from NHL now me thinks lol, bring on NFL and very much the nba season lolclaim a no item revived only to be told by them that we filed 4 hours late and therefor lost our money
