The problem is not one or two products (ie: Finest & Chrome) but basically every product Panini releases now has multiple variations.
I could handle it if it was say 3-4 products a year but this sh1t is just overkill.

Agreed. I was stoked when immaculate only had 3 Aminu's to chase and they were numbered /99, /10 & /1. That being said, I hate how EVERY card has to have a 1/1 variation now too. My wantlist is littered with 1/1's will I'll probably never see. I've had 4 years of hoops products for Aminu and NEVER seen the base 1/1 for any of them.
That was only with Finest though, and the novelty was good at the time, but it's almost every Panini product!!!! There is no novelty anymore, it's just plain annoying!
Totally Agree not just with parallels but also RC Auto's. Collecting Nerlens Noel RC Auto and there is a crazy amount and 3-6 variations for each release.
I can see the hobby bottom out in the next 2-4 years if this continues.
This is why I have decided to focus solely on Spurs Immaculate and 2003-2010 Exquisite cards, going for quality over quantity. Less cards to pursue and less money wasted on stuff that becomes worthless a week after release. Panini have flooded the market and destroyed value in the process. Its amazing how hard it is to find low end cards from cheap products yet everyone seems to be breaking Immaculate and there is a huge amount available everyday. Bring back the good olddays of 8-10 or so releases a year Panini!
For some time now Panini has been overloading us with Parallels, but as a player collector, Totally certified is ridiculous! I thought Preferred was nuts......

This is whats called reducing your total cost. The only thing that changes is the stock its printed on and maybe a minor modification to the text.
See for the rookies they would own the rights to the photos (mostly taken at photoshoot by a hired photographer) that's why you will have multiple versions of them. For the stars, buy the rights to one image and use it across multiple insert sets. so instead of paying say $100 for an image for one card, they use it on 10 cards spreading the cost and reducing overall costs.
It's all about adding in content in at the lowest possible cost.
So, the new prizm is live. And of course, the selling point of this product is the rainbow.
However, in the 2014-15 version of the product you now have 18 pieces to hunt down to complete it.
2012-13: 4
2013-14: 12 (13 if you count the BWR Mosaic that came later)
2014-15: 18
The amount of parallels in 2014-15 Prizm is a joke.
Prizm, Blue and Green Mosaic Prizm, Yellow and Red Mosaic Prizm, Green Prizm, Blue Mojo Prizm, Blue Wave Prizm, Red White and Blue Pulsar Prizm, Orange Die-Cut Prizm #/139, Blue Prizm #/99, Light Blue Prizm #/49, Red Prizm #/49, Red Pulsar Prizm #/25, Gold Prizm #/10, Gold Puslar Prizm #/10, Black Prizm 1/1, Black Pulsar Prizm 1/1
That's nuts... 16 parallels for the same old photo.... and take a look at Dante Exum's so-called Variation in Totally Certified, even that is the same pic.

Mikan doesn't get much hobby love (less than 320 cards in total), but even then17 parallels is far, far too many. I can only imagine what its been like for the player collectors of more popular players.

Yeah I couldn't imagine PC'ing a superstar, you'd have like 50 cards per release. I struggle with Aminu who luckily hasn't been in certified or prizm this year, as I'm still chasing Hoops & Prestige!
