On the strength of a spectacular four-touchdown first half in his first NFL game, Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota delivered a debut for the ages last week in a 42-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and fellow rookie QB Jameis Winston. In the process, he rocketed to the top of the 2015 NFL Rookie Class (if he wasn’t there already).
But it’s what Mariota did just a few days before completing more than 81 percent of his passes for 209 yards and the four scores against Tampa Bay that likely will resonate most with collectors. Early last week, Mariota, the University of OregonHeisman Trophy winner and the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, sat down to sign a limited number of of items for Panini Authentic.
