Years from now, long after the NBA has returned to the court and John Wall is back running point for the Washington Wizards, folks will still be talking*about the night Wall, playing for the Goodman*League,*dropped 55 points on the DrewLeague*in a scintillating exhibition*for the ages.
And Panini Authentic was there.
The game, dubbed “The Big Payback,†was played Sunday night in Long Beach, Calif., and saw Wall and Goodman teammate Kevin Durant — both Panini America exclusive spokesmen — combine for 105 points in a 151-144 loss. But the big winners on this night clearly were the fans inside the packed Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State.
They saw*Wall’s double-nickel and a few*you-had-to-see-it-to-believe-it highlight plays that sent shock waves throughout the arena. They saw Durant put up 50 points of his own going against Oklahoma City teammate James Harden, who responded with 48 points.*Oh, and they also saw Panini America’s newest exclusive spokesman, Derrick Williams, the No. 2 overall pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2011 NBA Draft.
What those fans likely didn’t see was Panini America Memorabilia Business Manager Brian Bayne on the court just seconds after the final buzzer*receiving*from Wall*his just-worn right signature-model Reebok sneaker and from Williams*his game-worn pair*of Under Armor shoes. Both superstars autographed their in-demand footwear before parting with it.
The best part, of course, is that you’ll have a chance to own these bona fide pieces of hardwood history in the very near future. They’ll be available for sale*through Panini Authentic in the coming*days.
