From the day we first released the initial glimpses of Panini America’s new 2016-17 Grand Reserve Basketball earlier this month, the buzz has been building. On May 2, however, all we had were the first hard-signed returns from the new release. Today, we finally have complete details. Set to arrive in late June, the new release delivers two autographs and one additional autograph or memorabilia card in every box (eight cards per pack, three packs per box, eight boxes per case).
2016-17 Grand Reserve Basketball is bolstered by an eclectic mix of autograph and memorabilia content and a diverse array of printing technologies. On average, each box will deliver one Cornerstones card featuring four pieces of player-worn jersey and an on-card autograph. All Cornerstones cards will be numbered to 99 or less.
The additional highlights of this new release are many and include . . .
- Cards that feature embossing, micro-etch patterns, striking photography techniques and more.
- Two autograph inserts that are true 1/1s. Number Ones includes autographs from players who were selected No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft; One of a Kind features signatures of NBA superstars.
- Special memorabilia cards such as Team Slogans, which includes swatches of special team patches. If you look closely at certain NBA teams’ uniforms, you’ll be able to see a special patch that signifies what it means to be a member of that team. Team Slogans features unique swatches from six teams, all numbered to two or less.
- An insert in every pack. Chase the one-per-case All Systems Go and the ultra-rare Closing Statements.
- A Cornerstones insert that features four unique parallels: Quartz, Granite, Marble and Onyx.
- Vivid designs in such inserts as The Ascent and Upper Tier Signatures.
- In the history of the NBA, there are a select few superstars who ended their careers with spectacular exclamation points. Grand Reserve Basketball highlights five of those players in the ultra-rare Closing Statements insert that falls roughly once every seven cases on average.
We’ll have plenty more on 2016-17 Grand Reserve Basketball in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, enjoy this extended sneak peek:
