In this landmark season for NBA trading cards, Panini America officials still have a few new product surprises to unveil. The next one up, set to arrive in hobby shops across North America in late May, is 2017-18 Essentials Basketball. A new entry in the company’s product portfolio, 2017-18 Essentials Basketball features cards printed on holographic card stock and parallels that are as colorful as they are collectible.

On average, each hobby box of 2017-18 Essentials Basketball (six cards per pack, 10 packs per box, 12 boxes per case) will deliver two autographs. Collectors will have a variety of SSP chases in such inserts as License to Dominate, Rock the Rim and Kobe’s All-Rookie Team as well as the rare Base Platinum parallels.

As you’ll see, the highlights of the product are many and include . . .

  • Must-have autograph cards of up-and-coming stars in the Rookie Autographs, Destined for Greatness Signatures and True Potential Signatures inserts.
  • Track some of the NBA’s top names in Indispensable Stars, Kings of the Court, Franchise Foundations, Swish Kings and Worldwide Wonders.
  • Look for a fun-to-collect rainbow of parallels featuring Gold, Silver (numbered to 99), Platinum and Purple 1/1.
  • Claim to Fame Signatures honors those players who have raised the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
  • Look for 11 unique insert designs highlighting the best and brightest players the NBA has to offer.

We’ll have plenty more on 2017-18 Essentials Basketball in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. For now, though, check out this extended sneak peek:
