Ozcardtraders - Photobucket?

Hey guys, this is not really a site question, but sorta...

I was thinking today, we have all these threads for sales, and for trades, and about 99% of the members here have a Photobucket.

What if we were to create a Photobucket for selling?

Like setup a bucket, people get the login details (shared of course, and based around people on making changes to their OWN pics), where people can upload stuff they want to sell - WITH A PRICE!

Kinda like Ebay, only permanent, until removed.

This way, there's 1 site you can browse through, and the prices are right there!

What do you think?

Most of us would keep pics of our cards anyways, so we could upload them again.

And make it password protected, so only members know it?

It's just an idea I had. Doesnt happen very often. But they're usually productive ones. lol

Or some idiot to change the prices...unless we made it a rule that you name the file the price you want in $ prior to uploading...well thought out Ben.

All details go in the file name, I think we can identify the card from the pics (or give it a label).

Put your member name in the file name too. So we know who's it is.

We still gotta wait for Admin to okay it. But I got the Bucket set up. Just need to add a generic email address (is there an admin@ozcards.whatever???), as currently it's mine.

I think it's a great idea! But that's cos I thought of it.

Well, the photo album script i am using, it can host multiple members with their own logins...

but many people do not embrace changes very much... and my site is not that stable LOL...

Scotty, in fact, ur Harris album script can host multiple members too. you are using coppermine gallery..



if u all wanna give it a try.. I can create one album... and see how it goes..

That's what I thought you'd say.

The reason I suggested it, is 9 times out of 10 people post for sale threads, and say "check my bucket".....

I reckon it is an awesome idea mate! Maybe you could even just have 4-5 "moderators" that will have access and then people could contact them with pictures and pricing for updating the site.

Could be a way to stop a heap of people having access??

Moderators sounds good, would get rid of the chance people have to delete things.

hehe that actually makes sense.

it's just a one click away.. we don't really need photobucket or anything...

people here are doing what others do, i found that photobucket really slow and ineffective since day 1.. LOL

Haha good point. I'm liking Scotty's idea, but then I would very rarely if ever use it! I create threads just like your saying when I sell, but don't do that all that often either! I just like the idea of having all available cards in picture form in 1 spot to browse.

To let the cat out of the bag, I have been looking at introducing a gallery on Ozcards for each member to have space, kind of like photobucket. I am just making sure I can set it up to use a remote server for storage. I have access to a US server which will give us heaps of storage and heaps of bandwidth. US is nowhere near as expensive as AU bandwidth.

Looking at doing it when I get a chance to investigate the options fully ....

No not really .. I think linking the for sale section with a gallery of any sorts is a stupid idea. I just mentioned that I was thinking of a gallery.
