Hi all,

as of today eBay once again has changed the listing fee/stores format.
eBay stores U.S. had a good thing going for a while where you could
list any qty of stuff for 3c that's all changed now 'cos now store items are viewable with regular auctions.

I list a lot of little things, 99c things buy it now and was happy to pay 10%
final value fee if things sold, well now it's impossible to list heaps of low priced items without paying a fortune.
they do allow you now to list 100 x .99c auction items for free per month
but from that point they sting you, and no longer can you list buy it now's for 3c fees, so to list 1000 x .99c items over a month costs around $250 plus final value fees, as anyone would know you can never sell all your things, maybe about 40%, this is basically wiped off as all that covers is your fees.
and i'm not even thinking about paypal fees so all ebay is worth now is to list big ticket items, us little battlers trying to sell off spares have been wiped out.

I just closed my store, listing will expire aventually and that's that.
eBay does have amazing traffic, you can't beat it along with turbo lister which makes listing bulk very easy, not into oztion as no one goes there, the buyers are the sellers, there is very little public traffic and even less that actually are looking for cards.

so anyways, that's my little whinge..

I have tested the water with setting up my own auction site, it's quite easy really as there are many auction programs out there that work just like ebay does, the free versions are a bit limited but a paid version is like running the real deal.

anyways, what this post is about is why doesn't ozcardtrader have there own auction site?
a dedicated auction site just for trading cards, maybe collectables too.
I estimate it would only take 18 months for virtually the entire card collecting hobby in australia to find out about it.

I do know that there are people already thinking this way, and are already working on doing this elsewhere, but before someone else does this, ozcards should get in first, as we know with auction sites, once people are set they rarely move on and stick to the one place.

I think an auction site here is the next step, it's already the biggest & best trading card site in oz', but why leave it at that?
lets dare to dream big, huge!

like i mentioned, auction programs are really easy to set up, i did it myself on my website and i don't know anything about setting up a website really.
I used php auctions that i loaded from my cpanel using fantastico, so easy it's not funny.

it just makes total sense to have a dedicated trading card auction site here,
free listings ect and maybe have some sort of seller subscription fee, like ebay stores where you might pay a monthly fee to list, or whatever, that side of it would require a team of thinkers to work it all out, but initially just free listings and kept relatively simple whilst it grows and more people become aware of it.

I would not hesitate to direct all my customers to the site, simply by selling on ebay and promoting the site from that point.
ebay has sucked us dry for a long time and why should we bow down to an american company like that when we are smart enough to do this ourselves,
we don't need all the other junk ebay sells, just cards and maybe collectables.

and yeah as mentioned, it's already in the pipeline elsewhere, but I think it would end up being a half arsed effort and a flop, where i think the people here are much more net savvy, up to date and in synch with card cllectors.
it be huge man, i'm telling you, big time.
