My name is Steve but my nickname is Oz (from NBA Live Leagues). Im from Melbourne, 27 years old and I'm a Multimedia Student starting my Diploma course in 3D animation next month.
The two best jobs I ever had were running card stores (this goes back over 10 years when I was 15/16) and I stopped collecting shortly after my collection was stollen when I was 16
. By this time I had a fairly decent and expensive collection in a folder, but cut a long story short it's all gone and I never got them all back. I managed to recover some (long story) but my collection just wasnt the same and I lost interest and my job shortly after. I was lucky enough though to still have the sets I had assembled between 89 and 94 even if theyre worth next to nothing, and I've taken what decent base cards and Inserts I still have to form some sort of collection (I'm not too concerned with building sets anymore).
I got put on to this site my Gordon. He's inspired me to start collecting again.
He told me about GU's and Auto GU's, and all this is new to me since auto cards when I was collecting were very rare. I recently bought a 94/95 UD Hobby box off ebay with 6 Kobe Bryant cards on the side and pulled some nice cards (keep in mind my last 2 boxes were 93/94 Hoops and 94/95 Topps!). I'll post them in the appropriate forum thread shortly.
I'm a Laker fan so first up I'm collecting anything to do with Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal (still a fan of the big guy). Other players I'm collecting are Allen Iverson, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Kobe, LeBron and AI are for certain, I might be taking on too much there but I'll see how it goes.
My ebay name is steve_g_johnson. Not sure if that will help you with feedback since I've only ever purchased 12 items and all have been within the last 2 weeks.
I look forward to dealing and trading with some of you in the future. I don't have alot of time and money to spend but I do plan to keep collecting at whatever rate I can. I'm sure Gordon will vouch for me if anyone has any queries or concerns about me when it comes to trust and Integrity. If anyone has any advice or collecting tips to share I'd appreciate it.
