I was planning on doing this mailday about 3 weeks ago, and then another card popped up for the set.....and then another! So all up 3 newies in here, but more importantly 3 mini-set completions, taking my collection to 74/79.
Each of the 20 players in this set should have 4 cards but I have found out from a few of the big KG collectors that none of them have ever seen the KG auto /25, so it appears the main set i'm chasing is 79 and not 80
Anyway, first up is this LaMarcus Aldridge patch /25:
Pretty lame patch, but who cares, I found one! And it completes the Aldridge mini-set :
Next up is this gold VC GU /50:
Which finishes the VC miniset :
And also completes another mini-set - all 20 of the gold /50 GUs!
And lastly is a card in this set that I desperately wanted from the very beginning but had never seen for sale. I mentioned to Al (aka "ljandkg") that i'll pay a finder's fee for any of the 3 autos I still needed and 2 days later he found one in a guy's bucket on HK - so I PM'd him, offered him 2.5 times Beckett high, he agreed to sell, I did the deal, and then THE VERY NEXT DAY one appeared on ebay.....and ended up selling for less than than Beckett high price!!!
Here it is - a super sweet Kareem auto GU /25 (big thanks to Al and also to the seller, "mvpjordan23" on HK for parting with it)::
And best of all, it finishes off the KabJab mini-set!
So only 5 to go - if anyone finds me ANY of these to buy they will be handsomely rewarded :v::
1) Magic Johnson GU /99
2) Larry Bird patch /25
3) Dennis Rodman patch /25
4) Paul Pierce auto /25
5) Magic Johnson auto /25
A bunch are available to see via worthpoint.com, but of course they are only old sales done through ebay. I don't have a login to the site, so if you did, you may be able to bring up the sales of the items and contact the buyers. Example;
Probably the set chase I enjoy tracking the most (more so than my own) because all of them are sexy looking cards. 2.5 x Beckett high? Wow - really keen to finish this set off! I might have to borrow that KabJab phrase from you though - great goggled pic too! lol
Thanks to those who have replied, the chase has been going about 12 months now, hoping to have it finished by the end of the year.
If anyone is wanting to do a set chase I suggest trying to do it with a current product, not one 4 years old! I would have found it a lot easier collecting these back in 2007 when they came out than 3-4 yrs after their release, however the challenge is greater with a slightly older set and while the patience gets tested it is very rewarding and exciting when a new addition hits the mailbox.
And it is even more exciting when an OCT member PM'd me earlier today with 1 of the 5 cards I need - PAUL PIERCE AUTO /25 IS INCOMING!!!
