wow...this potentially could be game changing !!!I had heard similar.
A couple of interesting items heard around the traps recently.
1) Card samples from another manufacturer have been printed to be presented to the AFL in relation to obtaining the licence.
2) An AFL HOF player was asked by their manager (have seen the message myself) to appear on an unsigned card limited to 50 by a joint venture of 2 companies, one of those being Select and the other is not a current AFL card manufacturer.
Interesting times ahead.
It amazes me how the green parallel cards sell for $100 theyre ugly repetitive trash, why put effort in design when the main selling point of a card is the number you print on the back.If I'm looking at logically, I see it this way.
AFL card collectors couldn't care less who puts out the cards and they are more than happy with Select's choices to keep designs relatively the same every year and not reinvent the wheel. That means Select really don't NEED to reinvent the wheel and can continue doing what they are doing because they know people are going to buy regardless. It's a great position to be in business wise when your community isn't demanding more and just laps up everything you put out. It's crazy watching AFL card collectors losing it over a release (not any in particular) which looks exactly the same as the year before. That blows my mind but it happens every year.
So in turn, the AFL won't care who puts the cards out, as long as the money keeps rolling in.
I want to see rookie patch signature cards, if theyre going to have 3 levels of rookie cards at least make them different.Back to talking about Optimum 22. I really want to see patch cards again like in Certified, I’d love them to be in a release other than Supremacy which we only see every 2 years anyway. Match used ball cards like the NRL guys do, why haven’t Select had a go at this. Imagine a game used ball card with the image of the player who kicked 6 goals, or the mid who had 35 touches, or the player playing his 250th game etc etc. I love Supremacy and Brilliance but think Select should ditch 3 DPS variants and try a bit harder in series 2. 2 DPS variants are enough in my opinion. Love dual sigs from the past few years though, that’s a great addition.

Given how Select have ripped off other designs for their sets from Panini products, a rookie auto is not out of the question and should be considered!I want to see rookie patch signature cards, if theyre going to have 3 levels of rookie cards at least make them different.

My thinking would be a cut off point around pick 11 for players debuting then in the release it's a redemption so they can have time to produce the cards.Select do rookie autos, we call them draft pick sigs. Or are you meaning rookie patch cards? It would be hard as there wouldn’t be match used jumpers yet as the cards are in production before Select would get the chance to grab a used jumper. Maybe a second year card with jumper from their first year.

AFL has a draft. As an AFL licence holder, set up at the draft and have the players put on a jersey straight after they are drafted and use the material in an RPA in a product later in the year. This is what UD, Topps and Panini have all done in the past. Have the cards made and then have them signed later in the year. Have an RPA numbered to 99 and a parallel numbered to 25.Select do rookie autos, we call them draft pick sigs. Or are you meaning rookie patch cards? How Select hasn’t been able to do this already is beyond me?
Just my opinion here, but if it’s not match worn patches then it’s not the real deal. I’d still collect them, but wouldn’t be the same or have anywhere near the same value to me. But I get the concept. But get a match worn jumper from the under 18 comp the year they get drafted, then we’re talkin lol

I understand this, but for a lot of draft picks some turn out to be superstars and some never play a senior game.
If you want a rookie patch auto I'm afraid this is the only way you will be able to do it for all the drafted players.
While some people may hate a draft day worn jersey, I'm sure a heap of people would still collect them and would be highly collectable.
Sneaker reseller groups are ready...
only 2 days to if you are not checkout in 30 seconds you have no chance because select can say they cancel bot order or other people doing the wrong thing I think they do nothing how do they no who are bot and that capta thing only slow down the real people if we stuff it up we are stuffed

My only issue is, with three DPS, two rookie cards, a draft pick card for the top ten, a Rising Star nomination card for many, and a likely continuation of the Supremacy /25 rookie series, is another rookie card really necessary or warranted?
