Optimum 2022

it looks like a cripps predictor is around the 800 on ebay even number 2 when for 800 plats 1000 1200 i have 22 166 just to get off topic

The better dual sigs still fetch $600 and I feel there's better dual signatures this time around.
I think last year's duels were better.
Sure, one can pick and choose with each team, but I still think last year was a stronger line up.
(e.g) Prestia/Deledio pales in comparison to Riewoldt/Disco Roach

As both numbered to 50 (if I’ve read things correctly)…can see Ablett signature going for more than Ablett and Ainsworth dual signature is one of the examples I refer to. Anyways time will tell…can’t wait. Will be expensive though

Yep alot of just ablett collectors whoa rent Gold Coast Collectors. So they will want the card without ainsworth. I for one am stoked to have both!

I feel it’s a missed opportunity with the Footy’s Finest. Scott Pendlebury, Patrick Cripps, Zach Merrett, Joel Selwood, Travis Boak and Jack Riewoldt would have been far better choices for those clubs.

Cant back this up with facts but maybe they tried to pick players different to the Influential cards, maybe.

That’s a good point I forgot about those. Not giving Scott Pendlebury a Footy’s Finest card was a huge mistake since he doesn’t have an Influential.

Fair call. That's why I said cant back it up with facts haha, as I didn't actually check who had Influentials. Cant believe Pendles doesn't have an Influential.

A ebay sale from the last week makes for a interesting comparison of what is of "value" in the football card collecting world , The player in question was perhaps the greatest of all time holds a record which most likely will never be beaten you can watch 1000 of hrs on Youtube of his highlights. The Card sale in question was the 1985 Scanlens "Rookie" card # 119 of Tony Lockett , now in what must be said looked to be NM condition and it sold for 386 Now my long winded point is would you rather spend 386 on a proven bonafide superstar or 600 for a box of 2022 Optimum

Plwnty of new to the hobby people don't care to much for scanlens.
that plugged was a super clean card
and I'll take the card over the box any day of the week

$386?

Surely there are shenanigans going on there.

I got one of these a few years ago for like 10 bucks

I would agree if he didn't just have a gold brilliance. It is weird that he hasn't had a influential though

80's rookie cards of superstars have gone crazy lately, Plugger, Dunstall and Ablett to name a few. But it all comes down to what people want to collect. There would be many people not wanting an 80's base card and prefer a box of current stuff, for a chance to pull something big. It's an each to their own situation.

I wouldn't spend $600 on a box of Optimum, I think that's a terrible move whether you're trying to make money or even just to have fun busting packs.
$386 on that card isn't even a debate for me, it's a clear no because it's not to my taste design wise. I loved Lockett, but I wouldn't spend that much money on that card. I'd want something better for my money looks wise. However, that price seems off to me. There are now 3 others on eBay for auction, let's see what those do.

Shit, I'm putting mine up tonight.

IIRC, mine is in ok condition

You have to question certain sales on eBay , . The price of the card if true would probably only see one or two people pay that amount. Or perhaps Select are doing a buy back Signature set and want high quality versions only.

Its nostalgia VS Speculation. Both are powerful factors. Some of the people in the hobby are 16. Others are 60.
Some people have disposable income to gamble and won't ,and others scrimp and save and target one player.
It's weird all the different ways . We just have to find a way to work together.
For the seller the question is-How long are you prepared to hold duplicates of cards you see potential in?
For the buyer the question is-How much are you prepared to pay for what you believe is a good card?
