Hey mate, great choice of box 
I have the P1 myself and it is fantastic! Great for streaming media over the home network and recording shows etc. Can't fault it!
I got mine from JB Hifi for $720 but this was around 6 months ago. I tend to purchase larger items like this from stores rather than online (just in case something goes wrong - working in IT you see so many failures, I just wouldn't like to take those chances). I would look at DTV Forum www.dtvforum.info and they actually have a DP-P1 price thread. Just find out what someone in your city has purchase one for (the cheapest) and go to your local good guys/jb hifi/bing lee/harvey norman and tell them that store xyz offered me x price, will you match it/beat it. 90% of the time they will match or beat, 10% they will tell you they can't come close. The 10% you turn around and walk out
Don't be afraid to push, and when they get down to a price you like, then buy and enjoy!
Oh, and if you need HDMI cables - check out EzyHD Premium HDMI Cables, Projector cables. HDMI Cables for Plasma and LCD TV | EZYHD Shop for HDMI Cables & Accessories - i've bought 4 cables from them and saved myself big $$ compared to what the retailers want to sell them for!

Thanks Graham....unfortunatley I have moved back to Emerald and lets just say the choice of electronics shops is a little shabby.
I was in Rocky on the weekend and saw one of these for $598....should have bought it then and there....but i thought i may have been able to pick it up cheaper online....

$598 ??!! wow that's pretty awesome! I would get them to ship it out to you - i'm sure it's not the first time they've received a request to ship. Worst case scenario, let me know if you can't get Rocky to send and I will do some shopping around to get a good price and ship out from Brisbane. My inlaws are looking to buy one shortly as well so might be able to get a better discount for 2
