OKay I tell you what I must have taken some inspiration from Patrick today....

Firstly my very first Timberwolves exquisite card arrives.... secondly I just had the best ten pin bowling night of my life!

Now it wasn't so much the scores I got but how I got them....

First game I won with a rather average 96.... but my friends were just warming up.

In the second game I started badly and was trailing.... I did something Lebron James couldn't do... I came back with some clutch Spares and strikes I won 121 - 118 (my nearest friend).

The third game again I started badly, and the same friend, Mark, got off to another good lead and he figured he had me this time... I was quietly confident and again made the clutch scores to win 118 - 115.

By this stage Mark is just furious. So we play a fourth game and I had a horrendous start... at the end of the 7th frame Mark led me 103 to 68 - even I had conceeded defeat to him in that moment... I just didn't think I had a third come back in me.

So in the 8th frame mark gets 6 and 3 a total of 112, I get a strike.

In the 9th frame mark gets - and 8 for a total of 120 I get a strike (which has me on 98 with the next two bowls to count)

In the final frame Mark gets 6 and - for a total of 126 - which was clearly better than anything anyone had done all night.

The heat was on, I needed to do something I have never done before and get 3 strikes in a row.... I calmly walk up there, heave that ball down the lane... STRIKE!!!!! and I finished off with a spare to win 145 - 126.

Mark could not bloody believe it. I was so damn ecstatic for 3 strikes in a row that I lost the final game to Terry, who had been the worst bowler of the night - talk about saving the best for last.... but in a best of five series I already had the four wins ;)

A Bloody great day if I say so myself.

Thanks for reading.

well done aj,nice never say die attitude,i play ten pin bowling with some mates, some years ago,and i lost the first game 138.87.86,and they thought they had me on toast, well they did in the first game, but that was a warm up,and i come out firing, and won 198.110.102,why i remember this is i framed the score shoot.lol

including 5 strikes,and 4 spares

great story aj

cheers

Awesome stuff AJ, maybe you should buy a box of "Turkey" Red!

And wall3ace, damn, 198, that is exceptional bowling...you sure you didn't have the bumpers up?

I could not stop myself smiling while reading your story... That was an awesome Game!!! Congratsss! Can't remember getting a turkey but I did a few 150's before... Thats 15 years ago :)

149 is my best score, so to come from nowhere and get 145 wasn't too bad. I'm generally a 110 average bowler. I always bowl last when people let me, I used to choke early on, but I've learned to just go up there and do it... I nearly came from nowhere to win the final game to but the strike I needed on the final frame turned into nine with the pin on the left side of the lane left standing, I couldn't quite get the spare that would have given me a shot at winning - but I was all come backed out. My friends and I are having a bowling ladder...

4 points for first, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 1 for 4th. (if players tie they both get the same points for where they came) and the player following them gets the higher position of third if players tied for second etc instead of fourth just to make it a little nicer on the losers lol

That Ladder after 5 games reads:

AJ 21 points 4 wins, 1 equal second,
Mark 14 points 3 2nds, 1 equal second, 1 third
Terry 10 points 1 win, 1 second, 3 lasts
Angela 8 points 4 thirds, 1 last

I might keep that updated. :D

nice story to read...

i am so glad u use exquisite card in ur avator.. enjoy the card... and i enjoy ur story as well..

sweet bowling score in details... i never would have remembered in details at all..

Sounds like you played a typical Hawthorn game. Play 1 out of 4 quarters.

Make sure you hang on to that scoresheet for future refrence whenever you cop a flogging at the hands of your rivals, it's always great to rub in the past.
Especially when they had the win signed sealed & delivered.

That was the Old Hawthorn - the New Hawthorn plays 3 of 4 quarters.

I just start slowly is all. I always have confidence in my ability to score over 100 which generally keeps me in every game I play with my mates.

I shouldn't trash talk my Hawks after the great year they're having so far.:D

But i llike your game plan, give the opposition a false sense of security.
Set them up then knock them down when they least expect it.

Don't think they will ever be secure now with me lurking in the lanes.

And so long as we continue with a win over Collingwood, that's what I really want to see!

UPDATE!!!

In my league bowling today I scored five strikes in a row and my highest ever score of 186 - now that's made for a great day....
